When I first got the game I had CTD, freezes and all sorts of other problems...even had a power supply go and shorted my motherboard. So I got all that fixed and replaced with exact same kind. However, I added 1Gig RAM (total of 2Gig now) and went fron an nVidea 128M card to an nVidea 256M card (6200 something I think). All my problems disappeared except wonder videos stayed jerky and with poor sound. The intro movie ran perfect the first time I played after the repairs.
Then I upgarded to DirectX 9.0c only to find out that might not have been a smart move and patch 1.09. The intro movie that ran perfect the first time, now runs like Wonder movies (jerky w/poor sound). Also games slow as more of the map gets revealed, but if I exit the game and start again it fixes that for awhile.
What i wouyld like to do is go back to the original DirectX from Civ IV and start with the patch 1.09 and see if that works...then add the new patch 1.52 and then the updated DirectX , new drivers...etc...and test with each upgrade/update. Is there a way to uninstall any of these steps that prove to be screw ups on MY MACHINE.
Thanks for any assistance.
