For all the Deutschland fans, Which principality is your favorite?

My votes for Hessen.

Prussia. Definitely. Those militaristic bastards are so much fun :D.

Note: I'm half German so I'm allowed to say that :D .

Prussia, can you say "Teutonic Knights"

Bavaria. Good beer.

Opps, I misspelled Bavaria and the Hanseatic League (some people may know it better as Hansa). I would ask whoever is able to edit the poll, to please fix my errors and to replace Brandenburg with Cologne, since Berlin was a capital of Prussia.

If any of these were a custom civ, I would say their special unit would be the mercenary. I can't deduce the stats for the unit because I have not played Civ 3 yet. All would probably be militeristic. Some like Hansa would be commercial and others like Wurtemburg would be religious (Martin Luther).

Bayern!!!!!

Beautiful country, great people, great beer.

Incredible women! (I habe eine Bayeriche Frau verheiratet!)

And the rest of Germany is great too!

My second favorite country!

I voted for Hannover because Lower Saxony did a lot for the language (their dialect was defined as standard German after all!)

Btw, I'm not Bavarian, I just moved there!

welcome to munich by the way

Switzerland is an independant country-- not part of Germany!
I think bavaria because thats where the beer is

I have to agree that this question is pretty pointless. If any of that "princepalities" (like Switzerland and the "Teutonic Order" ;) ) would represent Germany as a whole why wouldn't the country be called like the princepality then?
What is "averagely German" anyway?

And would anyone ask which state represents the US of A best?

Hmm, i fear the answer's yes...

Cologne / Aachen (Aix La Chapelle) / Rhine
That area where the border is between the Romanian area 2000 years ago and the "not Romanian", the Rhine, and the main City there is Cologne, historical and cultural.

not yet ? ;-))

But serious, you're right. Switzerland the only part of the German speaking contries is that never was a part of any "German" government, not unter Preussen, not under Vienna's time.

But this is obsolet anyway, now we got Europe (at last we've one currency, the other will follow soon I hope within the next 25 -35 years), and then all "Nations" in Europe the same position will have as the American states in USA. (cross fingers)

(Do you knwo this ? -> €
If not, learn its meaning, it will be the sign for European power in future)

(In this order) Prussia, Saxony, Austria. Germany needs to unite with Austria and Switzerland to become the ultra powerful country they should be. Also they should try to liberate Konigsberg (Russia can do some quite disgusting renaming eh?)
