Seriously, why do I need to go to the main menu every time I exit the game? What a pointless action.
Just let us Exit to Desktop? Why?

No one here seems to know that ALT+F4 is a thing.

The Firaxis UI designers seem to love adding extra clicks in the name of a "cleaner" interface.

I never turn off my computer.
I also run Civ7 window mode, because I often have to switch to a browser to search for info that the game fails to provide.
So It happened a few times that I exited a Civ7 game and forgot about having to do an extra step to completely quit it.
And there, I found that the game was still running the next day, with whatever random leader striking poses next to the game menu.

I suspect it has to do with the simultaneous console development.
What's the saying? Trying to please everyone is the surest way to please no one.

Yep it's because it was designed with all in mind. They need to update for computer.
Consoles don't "quit" games. It's as simple as that.
The worse bit for Console players is, we can’t “Quick Save” without going to the “Show More” button, which we also can’t click directly (because no mouse). So it’s bring up menu, d-pad down to “Show More” then more clicking around to get to “Quick Save”.
