K-MOD Immortal Pangea

I'd say it happens 1/3-1/4 games.

Already, I find this quite often for a level lower than K-Monarch...now my guess the occurrence this could be more common on highest levels as the playerAI spams units easier.
But WHEEON is random.

Anyways, now, your arguments are more interesting. But I still believe AI archer rush should be out of the game unless you are the agressor. CivIII, archers were an agression unit, CIV, it's a defensive unit. (wow, such an argument. lol).
And those unchanged bonuses.

Until someone proves me it's winnable on a regular basis.

My guess is that on immortal, it probably still is winnable on a regular basis (will occasionally get screwed) but that on deity you're just going to die outright sometimes. The extra challenge is probably a good thing however.

I'm nothing against a new beefed up challenge, especially for some players who find no more anywhere and turns to supremely masochistic highest level AW games.

But if people recognize they lose half deity games, then that level just become a flip coin game.

And although the AI's were a bit asinine, the lack of PLEASED and FRIENDLY assurance from DoW kills s little the diplo power of the game and gives in to a more random game.
Yes, supposedly, the AI's start making weird diplo actions once a triggering happens (you become too strong, he or she become too strong), but all game is quite rough.

I can accept most factors anyway except those archer rushes. Even 1/4 of all games is quite high to me. On prince to add to injury. And a little those foreigh trade routes bringing foreign culture. How to control these flux?

EDIT: And I should not push the argumentary as I'm in no position to keep a side without even playing the game now.

That depends on whether the player can defend it and still have a plausible chance to win.

In a lot of ways stock civ IV AI is an utter failure. My biggest gripe with it has always been that it doesn't play the game. It makes 0 attempt to achieve any victory condition but culture (and culture is only BTS) and routinely sacrifices resources to directly contribute to someone else winning (taking culture whores as vassals, signing defensive pacts with people who are about to win space, declaring war on someone they can't beat while others run away). I've seen 2 AIs on same difficulty where one settles 15 cities and the other one 4 cities on the same continent spawning with the same land between them. Settling 4 cities on those bonuses is NOT trying. There are no victory conditions for 4 cities, even culture is hindered, and yet that's what I saw...

DoW at pleased or friendly means one needs to mind military at all times, but as long as the AI is perfectly willing to do this to other AI (and does so, instead of traveling through 2 civ's borders just to declare on the human), it's not bad at all.

But yes, speed archer rushes are pretty ghetto. Maybe they should just put a lock on early AI DoW (but if humans declare all bets are off)...prevent DoW before t40 or something so that there's no chance of just dying to archers before it's reasonable to have at least some kind of defense.

Maybe one could just remove the free archery from higher levels (or add free archery to the player)?

And btw., losing half of all games does not mean it's a boring coin flip. There is still plenty of fun to be had in fighting against the odds, and skill does make quite a bit of difference there.
One should not play games to win, after all ;)

I'm glad I found this thread. I downloaded the K-mod recently and am playing a 2 solo humans vs 8 AIs game.
I am Alexander of India and have had no archer rush. The first thing I noticed early on was DeGaulle of Byzantine demanded one of my Clams (my capitol had 2). I only had 3 warriors at that point, so I said yes. I researched Archery and spammed out a few to improve my unit ratio. After I built a couple of cities and hooked up my copper, he demanded a Fish off me (I had 2). I said No, but asked to trade it for 1 of his Corn and he said yes.
I have kept 1 axe, 1 spear 1 archer on his borders and he hasn't attacked me.
So far the K-mod seems pretty decent.
I think, it is great that people think that PRO is now a more valuable trait. It is also a bit comical to hear about archer rushes and pillaging as a problem. Since, I have played Always War games for the early fighting. I remember someone earlier saying that archer rushed by us were possible, under the right circumstances. It's cool that the AI sees this too. I guess the lesson is; Don't leave yourself too weak and you shouldn't get rushed.

Good Luck with this game. It looks like you are doing well.
In my game, I guess I'll find out just how hard Monarch K-mod has become.
