Kaboth's 8 player PBEM game - Conquests

So, do you guys surrender yet or do I have to subdue you some more?

Just so I get this straight--I'll get the sav file from CaptainCommando, take one turn, then email the new sav file directly to Grandmaster.

How about cheating--it seems that we could scout the terrain ahead of time using an alt sav file--do we all agree not to do this?

Is it okay to keep an alt sav file just so I can look at the map and think about my next turn?

What's a keshnick?

Please make sure that all your city improvements are constructed out of stone. It'll make the rubble piles easier to form after I burn your cities to the ground.

I'm not personally planning on cheating.

Sounds really borderline to me. Wouldn't a screenshot accomplish the same thing?

Screenshots are easy to do. Just have the part of the map you want to shoot on-screen, press the "Print Screen" button (top-right corner of keyboard), open a paint program (like Paint which comes default on ost computers, or Printshop, anything like that) and hit paste. Then save, and you'll have a screenshot.

Thanks Grandmaster! A screenshot will do just fine. I will take a screenshot and then delete the sav file after I send a copy to you.

Ok, i sen the save to Rocinate, i had a bit of trouble with my E-Mail so if you don't get it, tell me and i'll send it again.

Also, Kaboth, i sthis a randomly genereated map, or did you make it in teh editor? Because if it is randomly generated my starting place is so good it's a sin :D

Don't know about sinful, but I have no complaints about my starting spot.

I hope I'm doing this right. I got "KabothPBEM.sav" and when I opened the game I first got CaptainCommando's dialog box (not his screenshot, thank goodness). I hit escape and and was taken to my opening spot after being asked my password. After moving, I saved under KabothPBEM. When I hit exit I got another screen and hit "save and send to next player"--but it automatically set up a save file under "rocinante". I'll delete both sav files and await my turn.

My city improvements will be built of 100% unobtainium!

Oh yea, I sent Grandmaster the Kaboth file that I saved, not the rocinante file that the machine saved--is that correct?

Yeah, it should say CaptainCOmmando Americans or something, and then take you to your game, then take your turn and save it and name it somrthing, then make i tan attachment to your e-mail to the next guy

Sorry about the briefness of that least post, i'm helping my Dad re-wire the house and crawling under the house in the mud and all kinds of fun things and had to type quickly.

Anyway, if you got my save that means I did it right and that's good, so you want to put it in your save games folder and then go and Load Game from teh main menu, then when you load it, it should say CaptainCommando of the Americans or something similar, but it will still be your turn and your civilization.

Take your turn, then hit the orange button on the bottom right and save the game. I named it the same thing as Kaboth did and just overwrote the original because it was outdated and useless.

Then go into your E-Mail, put in the next E-Mail address and make a witty comment, threat or joke for fun ;) then put the game as an attachment to the E-Mail and send away.

Also, the game i sent you is called KabothPBEM.SAV

If you saved is as RocinatePBEM.SAV or something else, THAT'S the one you want to send, if you retitled your saved turn as something else and then sent the KabothPBEM.SAV file to the next in line then you sent YOUR first turn that i sent you to the next guy, meaning he'll be taking your turn which will screw us all up. So if you sent the wrong one you should immediately send the right one with an explanation so he doesn't play the wrong turn and screw up teh entire rotation before we've even gotten out of 4000 BC.

Don't worry if you made a mistake, it took me awhile to even realize that I needed to save teh game as an attachment.

Rocinante, you sent me the wrong save. You sent CaptainCommando's save, meaning that it wanted me to play as Egypt (you.) If you could please send me the new save, then I could proceed with my turn. :)

Don't worry, I saw your starting location briefly, but I don't remember it and I deleted the save.

--I saw your starting location briefly--

That's cool, the women folk all had their clothes on.

The correct file has been sent.

Ha!

Anyway, glad we got that cleared up, on with the game!

EDIT: Grandmaster, we posted at like, the exact same instant. :D

Yeah, I know, i think Kaboth made a the map in the editor because for all of us to have these perfect starting positions is just too much of a coincidence.

I can attest that he did not make it in an editor... my starting position was not all that great. But no complaints, it wasn't horrible and that's the luck of the draw :)

I sent it to the next guy, am I supposed to always post when I sent it? Or is it okay to not worry about posting?

Okay, I just played my turn and sent the file on to Tweedledee. If I did anything wrong, please let me know as this is my first PBEM.

Two questions:
1) Are we sure Tweedledee is in the game? He hasn't posted in the thread since he said he was out, nor has he corrected the fact that Kaboth's postings of his email address have left off an 'e' from the email address he originally posted...
2) Did everyone's starting location come with three free ICBM's or was it just mine?

Yes, you have to post everytime you recieve and send the game so there is no confusion as to who has it, or if whoever it was sen tot recieved it, and all that stuff, it's important to know exacttly where the game is.

That's a freakin' good point, tweedledee hasn't posted since the thread started. If he doesn't post by this time tomorrow we might have a problem, it's in the rules that we post within 24 hours of recieving the game and we might have to start fishing for a new player in only the first turn.

Well, he certainly responded like a huge jerk in the beginning of the thread, so I hope he's out.

There's no need to be so upset over an honest mistake, and I freakin hate people like that.
