Kaboth's 8 player PBEM game - Conquests

There was certainly a misunderstanding or miscommunication, but we should at least see if all's well. He did express initial interest in joining and it would save us the trouble of finding a new player.

Furthermore, if he's not interested, we are only on the first turn. I'm as enthusiastic as anyone for momentum in a game, but under the circumstances we could alternatively consider a restart? Just a thought...

so better let me out of the game.

This is the quote from his post. In light of recent revelations and lack of posting, i really think it's safe to say he's probably out of the game. Maybe we ougt to just start searching for a new player, or just start over with 7 players. Though personally I'd like to find an eighth player if possible, I have such a damn good starting position :D

I'll go with whatever the majority decides, given we still have some other player's opinions yet to be posted.

I'm still in, played and sent to Blocki.

Well, he certainly responded like a huge jerk in the beginning of the thread, so I hope he's out.

There's no need to be so upset over an honest mistake, and I freakin hate people like that.

In the response to my post it seems as making a fun of me. I didn't realize it as a mistake but more that my request was not taken serious, and nothing like 'take part in the game'. So I'm sorry for that and hope we can play without bad feelings.

Well, i guess anyone can have a bad day, and things can be misunderstood. Besides, this dude is from Germany and English isn't his first language and he may have trouble putting his point across. Anyway, I think we can let bygones be bygones and get on with the game.

I, personally, am glad you're back, Tweedledee, i would've hated to try to find a new player, probably would've taken days.

Anyway, take yer turn dude, let's get this show on the road :)

Hell, English is my first language and I find it hard to get my point across on-line. Not being able to guage emotion from tone of voice makes communication a little difficult. ;)

Good to see Tweedledee is still playing, I did mention I was hosting/playing for the first time hence my honest mistake earlier regarding emails.

Nope I did not edit the map it was randomly created from within the game, whatever great locations you guys have is purely luck. Mine is certainly nothing astounding.

Rocinante, the Keshnik is a UU for the Mongols.

I don't see a problem with keeping the last save of your turn to view terrain to decide on future plans later. Continuing to play other peoples turns and check their locations etc however is not acceptable and I did urge players to use a password to prevent any such unnethical behavior from opponants.

I added the extra e to where I have listed tweedledee's email address.

Thanks to those of you who helped some of the newer players get accustomed to PBEM.

So just out of interest any of you guys play Emperor successfully, I'm having a hellavu time in single player. Funny enough the 3 top civs in score all possess the agricultural trait.

I've played a couple of GOTM games on Emperor and struggled through the ancient age but got the upper hand in the middle ages. I really don't care for the combat disadvantage at Emperor--you really need numerical superiority or an equal number of significantly superior units to successfully wage war.

Given my skill level and my penchant for fun over meticulous plotting I think Monarch is just right.:egypt:

Yeah, same in all my games, civ with the agriculteral trait, especially the Maya, always annhilate everyone else and conquer half the planet.

Well, i'm glad tweedledee is back, but now we have Blocki. Damn, people, how are we ever gonna get this off the ground? Someone private mesage him or something.

If it's any comfort your PBEM Mayan leader isn't looking to be the violent type in this game. Mind you, I'm not saying I won't start wars, but I'm not going to pursue bloodshed for the sake of bloodshed. I've got the AI for that all the time, it's not every day I get to experience the nuances of human competition.

Done!

Yeah, while we're warming up in teh first several turns, maybe we should talk about war and conquest etc. Since we have no AI to beat on, we ARE eventually going to duke it out with each other.

I mean, if someone has a vital resource or is gonna get a culteral/space race victory, they're gonna get dogpiled on, and if someone gets wiped clean out of the game (Probably me) there are bound to be people getting pissed off at each other, so maybe we ough tot just agree all treacherous backstabbing and broken treaties are purely non-personal, and should stay just inside the game.

I've never played any sort of multiplayer before but I plan to play to win, and if that means attacking my former ally from behind where he's weak to take half his empire, or wiping someone out instead of letting them hang on to a last few cities, i'm gonna do it, and I don't want anyone getting upset over it.

This is going to be fun. Landing a resource could actually prove to be more of a liability than advantage. I suspect the trick would be making an ally or two...

As far as in game politics, it is just a game. Actually, I'm not sure I could take anything personally. After all, I don't really know any of you. You're really just pieces of text on my monitor...

Just be sure to head for my core cities. That way I won't have to rebase my Stealth Bombers.

With the way you cook, I probably won't! But for now get back in the kitchen and make me dinner. When I want your opinion I'll give it to you.
