Hi all

Just taking a look at the King unit, as I've never used them or seen them used.

I’ve loaded up a couple of mods to see how they work, seems to be each races has 2-3 king unit, and when all are killed the race seems to suffer some sort of terminal decline? Or something? Or is a civ with no King units left, just automatically wiped from the game?

I'm assuming you need to start with at least one king unit for regicide?

Ok, so say I start with one king, I'd need away of adding more kings to each civ, so what I’m really saying does anyone know away of producing only one unit of a particular type?

The King unit would need to be built or whatever relatively quickly not in some 1 king unit every 200 turn weird way, and once built would in some way self terminate so no more repeat builds are made... hope that make sense.

Any thoughts appreciated.

Thanks

Thanks for the advice

I took a look at Sengoku scenario in Conquests, and also pulled out the conquest manual for Regicide, Mass Regicide, so I'm clear about those now.

Still looking for a way to add one and only one unit of a particular type to a game... anyone?

Create a new unit (just clone an existing one) and make it unbuildable. Then make it upgradeable to a King unit. Preplace the new, unbuildable unit in your scenario.

See if that will work for you.

Set a Unit as a King Unit and pre-place it in your game or set a unit as a King Unit that will be the Upgrade for another unit that is in your game. King Units cannot be built but can be upgraded too. King Units will defend last when with other units so this may not be what you want in many cases.

IF you want a one of a kind unit that cannot be built in your game that is Not a King unit, you can simply pre-place the unit or units in your game without Flagging that they belong to any CIV in the editor. You set who the units belong to when you pre-place them on your game map.

Another way is to have the Special Unit "produced" by a Wonder.
