L5R - Legend of the Five Rings

Some resources need to be banned (no banana, corn, pig, sheep or wine). Perhaps introduce tea as a luxury resource?

sheeps are bred in unicorn clan. so these resources should be found there.
tea should replace wine
coal should be replaced by obsidian
uranium sould be replace by Jade
Soya may replace banana
pig can be replaced by poultry.

i have no idea for aluminium...

theses modifications need only graphic changes, instead of Python changes : bonus and improvements can stay as they are.

we will also need somme special Tiles for the map, to represent the Shadowlands

Besides, will we include special features, like in the FFH mod ?

Special tiles for the Shadowlands is something to consider. Almost like a dark dense fog overlay would work. Not sure how to best implement that…

Special features? Sure, I'd love to make this unique, I just don't want to rush or try too hard to make it crazy. Let's make it playable and then think about adding/changing things to it as we go.

Update:

I’m pouring through 4th Edition RPG material and gathering new things, but I’ve had a few insights:

  • Most basic schools will not have unique units, unless the school adds significant flavor and function. Each clan typically has several bushi schools; creating nine variants would be overkill. However, units like Battle Maidens, Bounty Hunters and Iron Warriors, just to name a few, deserve their own unique units.
  • I am convinced you will need to build a bushi, courtier, monk, ninja or shugenja school before you can train that unit in that particular city. (Think of these like barracks.) The artisan has been left out since artisans aren’t offensive, and will instead be used as specialists. (A city building could be used instead for this.)
  • All units will have most of the standard promotions (withdraw, strength, etc.), but there will be new, more advanced promotions as well. Here’s the breakdown by school:
    • Bushi: Kata
    • Courtiers: Social Advantages
    • Monks: Kiho
    • Ninja: Kata
    • Shugenja: Kiho and Spells
  • Paths seem best to be fit as high-level promotions.
  • Monks will be divided into three different types: warrior, scout and philosopher. The first two are recruitable; the third will be available as Great Philosophers and regular philosopher specialists.
  • Science doesn’t really play a big role in Rokugan. For that reason, there are no scientists; inventions happen a little more organically. Here’s the full list of specialists:
    • Actor: +1R +1G +2C (Note: No Great Actors in Rokugan)
    • Artisan: +2R +4C +3GP
    • Blacksmith: +1R +3H +3GP
    • Merchant: +1R +3G (Note: No Great Merchants in Rokguan)
    • Monk: +1R +1H +1G +3P (Could rename this as “Philosopher” if it’s too confusing)
    • Peasant: +1H
