Lack of players?

Hello, I go under the screen name Devajn and i started playing Civ V again today...however, when i check under the multiplayer tab...there is not a lot of action, and frankly...it was difficult to find a deacent game...so i took it uppon myself...to make a sort of gathering...this thread.

What do I want?

Well, anyone who is located within good internet distance to sweden (norway...denmark...finland...german ect) I humbly ask, to add me to their Steam Friends List. I want to find a nice group of people who actively play Civ V GK, that i can chatt with and have a good time in the game aswell.

Sadly most players on civ 5 are mainly in North America. But Another chuck are in the U.K., so if you not in those countries its almost impossible to get into a public game with a good ping. Sadly I live in Oregon, (a state on the west coast of the U.S.), so I can not help you. I hope you find what you looking for.

Always annoyed that the games are set on quick speed, takes the coziness out of it. Yeah I know why people would want that in an online game, but I'd rather play with friends then. Nice to see some people want to have cozy too though.

I couldn't agree more, good games that demands dedication makes it hard for a bigger crowd to be attracted.
However, I couldn't help but notice that you have Denmark enlisted as current country, would you be willing to engage in a Steam related 'friendship' x) ?

There are quite a few Scandinavians who play in NQ. NQ is a great place to easily organize matches with other players and everyone is friendly yet competitive. Of course NQ means you can't quit or you get kicked out, but the competition is phenomenal - I do recommend

I joined the CVNQ group in steam...after a period of time...without anyone responding to my "Group chatt"...a lot of people online...just not responding?

I would recommend you join the Group NO QUITTERS.
it has most of the good players and a fair few average players.
should be easy enough to find a game betwean gmt +1 11 am to 3 am.

Just remember you need to get a invite to join that Group, but it is easy to join.
Just follow the common rules of no quitter games.

currently it has 1226 members. around 50-200 active players at any given time.
and around 5-45 players in the chat room.

You can also join Civplayers, it is a bit more competitive than NQ, and duels and team games are more popular than FFA's. The links are in my signature block. And as a league we provide a ranking system etc. Our steam chat is open to all so just come and chat if you want more detailed info.

If your annoyed with it, then join the group I'm creating for playing games over the course of a few days instead in one sitting.

Well the fact of life is that in online gaming people don't have much more than 3-4 hours for a game, and a game has to come to a real conclusion within that time frame. And the only way to do that is to play on quick speed and simultaneous turns. Slower games might be ok with a group of local friends, but when you are playing with random internet players you have to get the game done in one relatively short session.

I'm from sweden and I do play multiplayer sessions of civilization 5. I'm in the group No quitters(It's not civ no quitters, that's another group...). It's possible to find good games there or you could try and make a thread here about a multplayer game. It's not easy, but sometimes you meet just the right people.

My internet connection is pretty fast too
