Lacking differences between religion

And on another note, I'd just like to say that it's shameful how Civ IV has favoritism cheating on your marriage with jailbait. As proof that Civ IV encourages cheating on your marriage and statutory rape, Id like to point out that the quote for plastics comes from the Graduate. How shameful. Surely they could have found a good plastic quote that doesn't encourage felonious sexual activity.

(See? I can be over sensitive too. :p )

No one in "The Graduate" was jailbait. Hoffman's character is 21 -- a gradute from college. I don't know how old Elaine is, but she's in college and old enough to get married, I'd guess 19-20. No felonious sexual activity anywhere. Of course, there's the fact that adultery is one of those laws that still hasn't been stricken off the books in most states... ;)

No, it's never prosecuted, so Europeans don't be getting any MORE ideas about how backward we are :p.

Christianity, for instanced, during the middle ages, was about the most warlike and violent religion you could think of. It is far less so today.

I'm not sure the iraqis would agree. :p

Kinda dissapointed when I realized there are no differences between religions except for aesthetic reasons. I meant from gameplay point of view, like +1 health in all cities for Hinduism (cause they are vegeterian :) ).

Not sure what the dev-team were thinking, but I assume such feature might not be a good idea considering religion is a 'sensitive issue'. Some people might get offended by the dev-team's definition of 'advantage' toward some religions.

Any thought ?

The religions are there so you can build cultural affinity groups, groups of nations that, all else eqaul, would be more inclined to like one another. Given different circumstances Christianity may have wound up enforcing vegetarianism. Giving the religions traits would add nothing but trouble.

Kind of disappointed to see a strong weener vibe going on here.

Lots of "hey someone might get offended so we had better not do that!"

This is a red herrring. Making all the religions the same has nothing to do with being politically correct. It has to do with accuracy.

Tell me, which one is the financial religion? Which one is the aggressive religion? Which one is the expansionist religion? Any answer you could give would only come with gross generalizations, and would not reflect how each religion actually IS in the real world.

Much more relevent to each religion's traits are the CIVICS. There's a strong Pacifist stream in Christianity, and there's a strong Theocratic stream. There are some Christians who want a clash of civilizations, and there are other Christians who believe it is much more important to address problems of international poverty.

If you want to look for the system that's made the game meaningful, it's the civics.

(Plus, the way religions are set up with certain religions coming earlier than others, it would be seriously imbalancing to gameplay to give them all different bonuses.)

Because of all the Templar Crosses emblazoned on American uniforms, right?

No, because of the leader who send them there because God told him to do it ...
