Lags bad.

Hello, i got civ 4 and it lags bad, i have the 1.52 patch installed and have tried closeing background sfotware, virus programs and the whole shmer but it still lags, i get max of 16 fps at game start and it gets worse as i expand. I have tried everything i can think of and its really starting to make me angry because my systems above the requierments. Heres my specs.

Geforce 5700 LE 256

2.4 P4

Windows XP Home service pack 1, (had 2 installed and dident help)

1 gig PC 2100 ram

Sound blaster live sound card

We're all in the same boat, sorry. The lag is getting annoying. Discourages you from playing a game that is wonderfully devised! I just can't stant the wait in betwwen turns, especially in the Modern Ages. The lag has improved since v1.0, but the frame rate is still unacceptable.

A couple of points worth trying out if you haven't already.

Download RivaTuner and force the shaders down to v1.1.
Increase the AGP aperture size through the BIOS to 128mb.

I have my FX5200 working pretty well with Civ for the most part, tends only to lag alittle in the modern ages but is still pretty playable. Still going to upgrade it though.
