btw, this is a pet peeve of mine. is *colour* or *harbour* etc considered to be an error in US schools? is one preferred over another? is it considered unseemly to mix them?

Save TONIGHT is a song by Eagle Eye Cherry.

NOT save TONITE.

One writes a CHEQUE, watches a TV PROGRAMME (show) in full COLOUR

We are civilised, you are not.

Theodore Roosevelt's spelling reforms

Some of these are interesting. Why do we use fantasy (phantasy) but not fantom (phantom)?

but if there are accents?

If you meant "Como esta" or "Como estas" then that would be "How are you?" as a previous poster said.

Written accents could change either word completely because they would, in this case, mark verb conjugations with identical spellings to other words. It's doubtful those verbs are what's being said here, though.

Having the context would help.

Most teachers don't care since they get what you're saying.

But generally, as you say, it's nice when you stick with one spelling and don't switch back and forth.

To my class in grade five, about 7 yrs. ago, it's not specific. They say English class and didn't specified it. I'm gonna correct that teacher!

*Packing up, with my punching gloves, to put a bash on that teacher*
