as i was messing around with the civ4 bmp to map converter, i noticed that i was getting larger and larger maps, to the point where it was beyond what the world builder will generate, so it got me curious as to how much enormous i can load in there

the largest i managed to load up in worldbuilder was 185w and 176h. although, civ wasnt able to load up a game with it, might just be because i only have 2 gigs of ram

i had tried 195x186, but worldbuilder just refused to load it, with a popup saying map too large. im sure it could of read the thing but theres obviously some little thing there that stops it from running, kind of like trying to run it with civ5 already playing

The size settings are limited to 128x80, and Civ5 does not handle maps that are taller than wide. I'm surprised that you could load 185x76. Also, keep in mind that the Civ5 map is a big time resource hog compared to Civ4. That's the real limiter right now.

you have to use the external programs to create a map larger than the max size worldbuilder will let you make. also i was 185 by 176 the max size

I wonder why they'd create the world builder limit if it can work with maps over the normal maximum. I'd love to attempt running a 180x160 without resorting to external applications.

Speaking of which, where can I find this tool you're using to create these maps? Do I need anything in particular for it to work?
