I find that the late-game is kind of paradoxical: I'll finally have the industrial powerhouses I've been hurting for all game, and then wind up setting multiple cities to producing gold or science.
Of course, a lot of this is because, like a lot of players I suspect, I take pains to keep heavily-promoted units alive and well so that they can be upgraded with gold. Aircraft wind up being the major exception. Marines and paratroopers represent Firaxis' attempt to give up some neat late-game land units to scratch-build, but they don't really whet my appetite.
So, what do you guys find taking priority in yoru build queues? Do you find yourself going into auto-pilot with gold and research, or are there enough buildings and/or units to keep you juggling priorities?
