LaunchPad not closing correctly (Epic)

Hi,

I have Epic Game's Civilization 6 license of the game, I use it to start the game, which starts LaunchPad, which starts the Civ6 exe.

Most of the time, closing the game is not done properly, LaunchPad.exe is still running according to my Task Manager, I need to close the process before being able to run the game again, as for Epic Launcher, Civ6 is still running. I only play Cloud Games so I need to run the game frequently, and this problem is annoying.

This problem is also present on other computers.

Is there anything I can do or is it a bug ?

You can bypass the launcher.

Create a shortcut for the game.
Right click the shortcut and select properties.
Where it says Target add a space followed by %command% to the end.

As an example mine reads:
E:\Games\SidMeiersCivilizationVI\Base\Binaries\Win64EOS\CivilizationVI_DX12.exe %command%

Click OK then launch the game from the shortcut.

You can use the same bypass for most games with launchers or in steam versions of games the full path with %command% can be copied into launch options as an alternative to using a shortcut.

But LaunchPad was replaced by another new app, and problem seems to be solved with it.
