Hi,
Since no one started this, I will.;)
This weeks leader is Gilgamesh
The Life of Gilgamesh
Gilgamesh,as most people think was born in the land called Uruck, in Modern day Iraq.
Gilgamesh, was in modern Sumeria, the strongest person in the land so, the Goddess, Innna wanted to marry him, but Gilgamesh refuesd. Innana, was also the Goddess of War and she asked that her father An send the Bull of Life to kill Gilgamesh, he easily defeats it, but the Goddess, Aruru replies to the Citezens of Uruck's demands by sending the wild man Enki to attack Gilgamesh.
They both relized that they could do acomplish more if they were friends. So they stopped fighting. Then Innna sends the bull which they both defeat and Innna, pleads with An to kill one of them, All the gods and Goddess vote on Enki except Ea, the god of wisidom. Shortly thereafore, Enki dies
Gilgamesh mourns for him but he vows to discover the secret of immortality so he visits his anscetor, Utnapishtom. First he gets past the Scorpion-beings who guard the Underworld/Netherworld. Gilgamesh, shortly after arriving, meets Utnapishtom who tells him to pick the fruit and eat it, which Gilgamesh does but as he is bathing, a snake bits it and Gilgamesh, unhappy returns to Uruck, A old man and dies in the city, becoming a hero

Yes, but that's just a brief retelling of the Epic of Gilgamesh. Since this is the History forum, what, if anything, do we know about the real Gilgamesh?

He was King of Uruk, probably ruler of Kish, Ur, and a couple of other cities as well. In other words, a fairly important and powerful Sumerian king. Past that, I can't recall all that much.
