One thing I am not a fun of in civ is the leader screens being forced upon you. It takes you out of the map out of nowhere, and suddenly you have to deal with a diplomatic situation.

I think Civ VI could really benefit from a notification system, that allows you to choose when, or even IF you want to talk to this leader. One of the things that grinded my gears, and that of my friends is constantly getting taken out of the game screen because leader X wanted to ask you the same thing for the 10 time. It gets annoying, and really slows down the game.

So, all I am asking for here, is to have the option of getting a notification on the bottom right of the screen. With the potential to even deal with the diplomacy there if you like.
I.E (Yes, I accept this trade deal, or No I do not)

Another advantage of this system, would be the ability to look at the map before making an important decision. i.e (I would like to know where that city state is that you are threatening is, before making my decision to threaten you for bullying it)

I don't think your suggestion works. If I ignore a notification telling me Trajan wants open dialogue so he can declare war on me, does the war not happen?

This was actually a thing in early Civ games. Before a leader wanted to talk to you, you had a message asking you if you want to grant them audience. The AI leaders also had an option not to grant the player audience, so I think this suggestion is good, and I am sure many players who have played Civ games since Civ I (like myself) would like this.

Declaring war is something that doesn't require dialogue (unless Trajan wants to extract tribute at the threat of war).

Basically it would a little Notification "Trajan Has Declared war on you"..past tense (you can open it to see him do so)

Same thing with the Denouncings..that's not dialog, you don't actually need to respond.

[War Notification should be obvious from the type of notification, Denouncing can just be a generic diplo notification]

However if they want to deal with you, then you need to respond.
(Same if they want to ask about the troops on your border.. you should be able to ignore it, but you need to know what you are ignoring)

What I'd like to see
Diplo Notifications
-X has declared war on you (click it if you just want to see the animation and know their Cassus Belli..although you should be able to find out later)
-X has denounced you (same as above)
-X wants to trade/make research agreement (the "if you dismiss this, nothing happens" category)
-X wants to discuss your troop movements/spy actions/etc. (you must make a choice...dismissing this will have negative diplo consequences)
