I think he’s just making a tongue in cheek reference to Civ 5. And he’s right! Thank goodness we’re past Ramses speaking Arabic.
I understood the reference. :p I was just pointing out that it was unlikely that he'd speak Arabic in Civ6 given we already had Cleopatra (anachronistically) speaking Middle Egyptian. ;) (Though, despite speaking the wrong language, Civ5's Ramesses may be one of the few cases where I prefer Civ5's VA. Civ6's Ramesses really isn't doing it for me.)

Given that Cleopatra speaks Middle Egyptian, even though Coptic probably would have been both easier to find a speaker and more accurate to what she spoke, I would have been very surprised if Ramesses hadn't spoken Egyptian.
Look at civ 5 counterpart who infamously spoke Arabic!

Wow, that's amazing. Closest thing to time travel I'll ever get tbh
Althought he probably had blue/green eyes as he did have red hair

There are a lot of Berbers with red hair, but most of them I've seen in pictures have brown eyes.

Roughhh....

To expand here on my original, very eloquent post:

There is a lot going on here. The texture of the clothing he is wearing — the slight sheen to the fabric makes me think it’s not cotton or linen. I’m not sure what else it could be, so I’m just chalking this up to a design flaw.

The colors, texture, and lack of luster in the jewelry is also distracting. As has already been pointed out, his jewelry and staff have a plastic quality to them which is off putting.

His crown looks similarly like plastic. In my opinion, I would have made his headdress larger. Something about the scale is also off. It looks silly.

All in all, the outfit looks very much like Ramses is dressing up as an American midwestern dad dressing up as Ramses for Halloween. This looks like an “Egyptian Pharaoh” costume purchased at Party City for $19.99 USD.

Nothing in his appearance is conveying grandeur.

And I’ve said nothing about his facial expressions, or the unnatural way his mouth is moving/not moving.

Please don’t start this topic again…
That is a very important topic! If it is totally unknown the color of skin of Ramsés II, why he is always portraited as white?
And that time he also have blue eyes!

Ramsés II could be also black, anyone rly knows! But the minimun is made him something in between, not that white.

We generally know because how they looked, not only by 3D scans of skulls, but also by DNA analysis etc., but also how the Egyptians depicted themselves on their walls and so on. As well as foreigners etc. Ancient Egypt was simply a multiethnic society. Where race wasn't an all deciding factor, but who you were, and your position etc.

There were Nubian Pharaohs. Most famously the Pharaoh Taharqa who saved Israel from the Assyrians. A history shaking event, for if Israel had lost it would been wiped out as that was the MO of Assyria at the time thus Christianity, and Islam would never have emerged.

Your "solutions" to your perceived racist depictions in this game is always to make it unquestionably more racist. Like Michael Scott from The Office.

Why my "solution" is unquestionably more racist?
If it's totally unknown the color skin of Egyptians Pharaos, why not use black? Why just use very white?
Unquestionably more racist is the way it is doing.

It sounds like the same voice actor as they used for Harald and Gilgamesh ?

It's a twenty second edit if it changes on release and you want that particular combination. All the definition XML files are in a nice neat little file structure.
EDIT
I'm surprised they're not using the couple of grey shades they have defined in the colours list. Dark blue with light grey looks really clean, and dark grey with any of the lighter colours stands out quite well. (The defined colours include black, White_DK, White_MD, White_MD2 and White. MD2 is like silver, MD is more like slate)
oh yeah, ive been doing this for a while. recently gave uniqin Green_MD on White_MD since im still miffed they didnt go with the provisional jersey for him, but still didnt want a black background (would contrast with free cities & city states)
also changed norway's default from Red_MD on Blue_DK to Red_LT on Blue_LT since to my eyes it's a fraction more readable, and looks more like faded, sun-bleached colors on an old sail. plus idk why but i really just dislike Red_MD on Blue_DK in particular.
if i end up having to change Rameses's jersey anyways from whatever they give us i think i'll try out Purple_LT on Purple_DK to see if thats even better than Purple_LT on Purple_MD like in the spotlight

I'm trying to figure out what they could possibly give him if he is indeed a militaristic leader. Bonus for Maryannu chariot archers? Maybe make peace faster referencing the first ever peace treaty?

If he his militaristic I'd like for some infrastructure bonuses as well. Maybe something like this: Kadesh Inscriptions. +15% production towards buildings whenever you kill an enemy unit with a Heavy Chariot or Maryannu Chariot Archer. Temples provide culture and a Great Work of Writing slot.

This isn’t something possible in the current codebase so I doubt we’d get anything like that. I also think it’d be far too limited to just have it proc off only two units.

I guess all the evidence points to a militaristic ability but I’m gonna be disappointed. I was hoping it’d be something with Wonders. Some bonus for completed Wonders made sense to me, since Egypt itself has the bonus to building them.

If I were to hazard a guess, maybe “completing a Wonder grants a free heavy cavalry unit” or something would be a component of it.

Otherwise, I would expect a simple yield bonus for Wonders. Some additional Science, Culture, Gold, and Faith for them.

Any hope for Firaxis changing the model? I notice that the animation of the mouth on most of the released leaders has been uncanny as well. It is still free content for most of us, so it appreciated regardless, but still... Are there any modders who could touch up the textures/animations of the leaders, specifically of Ramesses II?

Of course Firaxis could update the model. There’s a good chance we haven’t seen the final version yet.

Modders can’t touch it though. They haven’t released any of the assets for this dlc. You’d need someone to make an entirely new model, animations, rigging, voicing, and textures from scratch.
