I *think* in Civ2, your title would depend on what government. I think it was...

Despotism = Emperor
Republic = Prime Minister
Monarchy = King/Queen
Communism = Chairman
Democracy = President

(could someone correct me if I'm wrong)

Anyway, I think this should have been incorporated into Civ3 too. My ideas...

Despotism = Warlord
Tribal Council = Chief (special scenario government)
Blood Cult = Shaman (special scenario government)
Oligarchy = Lord (special scenario government
Imperialism = Emperor (special scenario government)
Republic = Prime Minister (or Chancellor?)
Monarchy = King
Feudalism = Baron (conquests only)
Theocracy = High Priest (made this one up)
Democracy = President
Fascism = General (like Hitler or Mussolini. conquests only btw)

Ideas? Try to keep to refrain from having two of the same titles. For originality ;)

It's already in the game. It's for when the Advisors address you, they say things like "President, Atlanta is unhappy", or "Revolutionary, we will regain order in 4 turns".

What you descibe is in civ3. But in civ2 there was also different titles for diffenrent nations so a roman despotism would have an imperator, while a spansih would have a dictator.

Neither Hitler nor Mussolini were generals nor did they call themselves generals. Hitler was proud of the fact that when he'd been in the army (Reichsheer) during WWI, he'd been a corporal (Hauptgefreiter). Both Hitler and Mussolini called themselves "Leader" (Fűhrer or Duce).

Fascism = Leader

Also, under Soviet style Communism, the most powerful person in the regime was the Party Secretary.

Communism = Secretary

For the record, here is what all the titles are:

Anarchy - Revolutionary, Leader
Despotism - Sir/Madame, Supreme Lord/Supreme Lady, Master/Mistress, Great One
Monarchy - Sire/Madame, Your Grace, Excellency, Lord/Lady
Feudalism - Baron/Baroness, Your Lordship/Your Ladyship, King/Queen
Republic - Sir/Madame, Prime Minister
Democracy - Sir/Madame, President, Commander
Communism - Comrade
Fascism - Great Leader, Emperor/Empress

All of that is straight out of the editor. Unfortunately for Seriphyn, Fascism has "Great Leader," but no "General" ;).
