Leaderhead Database and Request thread

That's because China was not a "major" allied nation during WW2...

Tell that to the United Nations Security Council...

They were a major nation... to the extent that France was. They both got beaten down on hard (by Germany and Japan, respectively), but they were both key players in resisting the Axis.

Another problem is that we have three Firaxis LHs for China- I don't need more. Ekmek made Cixi and MO made Yu, so that's five, and The Capo doesn't need more. Other LH makers are busy with other projects. Again, I do advise you to take a look at the CHiang LH in the database.

You're complaining about five when other civs have a lot more? I can't even count how many Roman LHs there are. American, Russian, Hungarian, etc. too. Plus, my requests are mainly for modern China, which only has Mao. The closest is Cixi, which is a great leaderhead, but that's like putting Neville Chamberlain as a leader -- her rule was characterized by decline rather than prosperity.

As for the Chiang LH, that's a WIP and is far from complete by current standards.

There aren't that many Russian LHs too- Lenin and Ivan Groznyy are good, but old. Nikolay II is simple and forgotten. Zhukov is good, but he's a military leader. Gorbachev could use a remake. Putin is excellent, but too modern for Civ.
I agree there are too many high quality Hungarian, Roman and American LHs. But you can't blame LH makers for making the LHs they find most interesting. I know for myself that I only made LHs that were fun to make (and were very needed too). I might have helped you had I been a good LH maker, which I don't consider myself to be. This is why I am officially retired.

C'mon Japan has some good LHs too.

They do. In fact they're very good. There aren't an overabundance of them either, and most of the major leaders are in (the only other ones that would be nice would be Oda Nobunaga and Toyotomi Hideyoshi... but Tokugawa's got that era covered). That's why I didn't mention Japan. :P

I hope you don't mean that Japanese leaderheads are a substitute for Chinese ones though o_O

I just find it surprising that we have the Fathers of the US, India, Germany, Turkey, Vietnam, Russia, the Netherlands, and more, but not the Chinese Father of the Nation (Sun Yat-Sen).

You seem pretty interested in this, perhaps channel that motivation into learning and fixing what is already there? That WIP?

I do think, that either of your suggestions could be made, probably Sun Yat-Sen is a better choice.

But I have to say, there are already 7 leaders for China, and I saw 3 or 4 WIPs a few months ago.
Not all of them are ready or the best quality, but still. 7-8 leaders are more than enough for a civ, so you shouldn't complain at all...

I would if I wasn't so busy with other stuff.

I agree Sun Yat-Sen is the better choice.

And what other leaders are there? Most of the ones I've seen other than Taizong and Cixi were emperor reskins... And they're all WIPs.

Also, it's more than just Civ representation. It's also just major historical leader representation. If this was a sports draft, then those guys would be near the top right, and all the later round leaders are being picked instead.

The people who do these things have already spoken... so its kind of beating a dead horse at this point...

Yeah, its the request thread...
You are turning it into the leaderhead begging and pleading and arguing until you get what you want thread.

The Capo said he might consider it.

And I don't get your point. This is a Leaderhead Request thread, after all.

This thread has definitely become an LH-request-trashing thread.

I mean, I have done it before, but for idiots who request stuff like the lead-guitarist for Rammstein or something like that.

I'll make one of these, I have a pretty good idea for Chiang, although I happen to think (as a leader) he's worse than using Cixi (which I do in my mod by the way). At least she had more power/authority than Chiang did. I don't really know what to do for Sun Yat Sen, and he actually looks more difficult to make (despite how simple he appears to be). The reason is that, when you have an LH like that, just a dull shirt and a plain face (i.e. no crazy hair or facial hair or scars or anything) there isn't much to be done. And this means that I have to make his face look perfect, and I'm not the best at doing that. You should realize though, that these guys are getting on the back end of a long line, so don't expect anything anytime soon. Having said that I make whichever LH I am going to make, whenever I want to make it. So who knows, you might get lucky. :goodjob:

And I also wanted to say something else, to the rest of you guys. Really, these requests are MUCH better, and more deserving, than some of the guys I have seen (or even made myself) lately, I don't understand why he got such a backlash for it. Can anyone explain this for me? The excuses were kinda crap too btw.

Yeah, its the request thread...

:nono:

I have nothing personal against the guy... but when I saw 5 posts elaborating on why he wanted them, it really got to be annoying to me.

Really, it should have ended when you said you would do it...

Anyhow, if everyone who wanted a LF all posted 5 times in a day about what leaderhead we wanted, this thread would be that much more...

True enough.

I think when everyone started bickering about too many such-and-such LHs it kinda got out of hand. I understand the points everyone made though, but the first thing should really be the merits of the LH rather than how many exist. My comments about the amount of Hungarian LHs have always been made in jest, however there is still a ring of truth to the comments none-the-less.

Anyway, I just don't want to discourage people from making requests. I think if someone does (unless its just entirely ridiculous, i.e. that guy who wanted the bassist for Rammstein or whatever that was) make a request, if someone else thinks it is stupid they should just shut their mouths about it and let the request fall on deaf ears. Especially if those people either don't make leaderheads or claim they have retired. I don't know, I just didn't think the request was bad at all.

Hungarians must just be really patriotic.

Excuse me???
If you're talking about me, read again what I wrote- I didn't say these requests were stupid. I just said I won't help because I don't have the skills and the will.

Thanks Capo. :goodjob: That's pretty much exactly what I wanted to say. :P I didn't have much to say other than my request post, but then I got all these shoot down replies, which was just a big "WTH" considering the other requests (and some LHs) that we've seen lately, hence my responding back.

As for Sun Yat-Sen, I totally agree with his main flaw. He was a hell of an important man in history... but his appearance is rather plain, which is probably why a lot of people wouldn't feel motivated to make him. At least this picture has him with more hair and a suit, so he's not as plain:

SunYatSen_0.jpg

Although his typical suit is the plain-looking one, which is apparently called a Mao suit in English, it is actually called a Sun Yat-Sen suit in Chinese. So that might be a better choice of dress and it can pretty much be copied from Mao's LH. And considering how flat and round his face is, a Julius Caesar with a flattened nose and a less prominent facial structure might work. Caesar's even got the ears, and he hardly smiles, like Sun.

Either way though, it's up to you. Thanks for the consideration!

As a side note, I was actually gonna try making LHs of my own until I got caught up in applying to grad school. Maybe if I get an acceptance next week, I'll take up making LHs :D
