4000BC. I started off with a fast worker
(15 turns), my UU, and
went after hunting to build the two camps with
elephants and the ability to make a scout if need be.
Agriculture is right behind to take advantage of the
rice resource. Warrior is scouting.

3680BC. Mansa Musa found me to my west. Found a hut and
received Animal Husbandry. I would like to know where
to look up on these boards how each of the AI civs
responds overall. I've always gone by the manual as in
Mansa Musa is spiritual and financial meaning not overly
aggressive. And Mansa loves free market whereas I need
to prefer using mercantilism using Obsolete's method.

3560BC. Taking Bronze Working to find copper. Will take
masonary next to build the pyramid. I have found stone
seven units to my east. It is in a bad location.
Should I hook it up being so far away for the pyramid
and other World Wonders?

3400BC. Fast Worker is complete. I'm building Stonehenge
now. Worker is connecting the rice.

3120BC. Converted to Slavery upon completion of Bronze
working. Started The Wheel technology.

3080BC. Hinduism is founded in a distant land.

3000BC. saved game to check my status.

2880BC. The Wheel is done. This is where I don't really
know where to go to. Is writing and alphabet the goal
here if not in war? If in war go for archery and iron
working? I selected writing for now so I could save the game.

2800BC. 9 turns for Stonehenge. I am chopping a forest
on a hill to hurry. Is that a good idea or is it better
to wait for there to be two turns left on Stonehenge so
that the third turn for chopping goes right into the
Pyramid?

2640BC. Yes, I skipped masonary and now it's haunting me.
Reset writing to masonary. I'll be able to build two
scouts and put some roads up meantime.

2480BC. I ran into Napolean. I love him historically.
He is aggressive and industrious. That means be wary.
His favorite trait is hereditary rule whereas I would
like to run representation.

2440BC. Second scout and masonary finished. Resumed
writing. Warrior is coming home and my two scouts are
on the march. Cost me six turn on pyramid which is huge
I bet.

2400BC. Found stone in a much better spot and toward
Napolean. Perhaps I should have done a settler before
pyramid. 36 turns for pyramid. I think it's faster at
this point to just continue on as is.

At this point please, on your critiques, list the date
and then your comments; that would really help out. I'm
also asking for people's comments who can beat monarch
or better consistently please. You can still comment and
I'll appreciate it, I only ask that you state what level
you play. Thank you.

2320BC. I received writing. Going for mathematics in 17
turns. I'll wait to chop the other two forests after
I get mathematics for the bonus. The forests are on
hills so that I can keep health bonuses. I noticed that
forest health bonuses round down. Will take that into
account later.

1680BC. Mathematics complete. 8 turns for priesthood to
build the Oracle.

1480BC. Pyramid finished. Building aqueduct to get the
Hanging Gardens.

1360BC. Priesthood done. Going for Code of Laws. Good
move on tech or not?

1080BC. First GP a great prophet. I put him into the
city, Obsolete. Napolean demanded that I end my deals
with Mansu Musa. So I did to keep the peace.

950BC. Oracle is complete; I took Construction for free
tech. Going to build the Hanging Gardens now (12 turns).

900BC. micro-managing city. Should have done back in
950. I know these "little" mistakes will not work on
higher levels. This is truely a game of patience. I
have a 3.2 processor with 4 GB RAM and it is still slow
to me. LOL

775BC. Copper is hooked up to capitol.

700BC. Hanging Gardens complete. Starting a normal
library.

675BC. I found Confucianism. I start alphabet to start
to trade techs that I have skipped. Is this the proper
play? Did I wait too late? I receive a confusist
missionary; I send him off to Napolean's capitol.
Napolean is the founder of Hinduism---is this still a
good play or is it better since Napolean founded a
religion to send this missionary to Mansa Musa?

575BC. Going for Chicken Pizza world wonder. Perhaps at
this point I should builda barracks and a couple
military units since Napolean is next to me. I will in
fact. Holding off on Chicken Pizza.

525BC. Missionary is successful in Paris. I hope
Napolean just loves that. hehe

500BC. Building an elephant or is that olliphant?!
Since everyone on my continent is of a different
religion, I convert to confucianism. Perhaps one or the
other will come over to my way---doubtful.

400BC. Olliphant is done. Building Chichen Itza.

325BC. 15 turns until Literature. Great Engineer being
absorbed into the city. 2 barbarians within my midst.
I hope they attack my olliphant upon the hill.

300BC. Barbarian was killed by my olliphant and the
other one raized my mine. Olliphant killed him for
doing so.

75BC. I'm really lost on the tech tree here: what do
you suggest I go for? What is the philosophy at this
point with a neutral and hostile neighbor here?
I'm going to take philosophy to get Angkor Wat (26
turns).

25BC. Chichen Itza complete and now building the Great
Library. Traded last turn with Napolean for pottery.
Equal sci-hammer trade. He won't do any better for
other techs.

200AD. Great Library complete. Building the National
Epic for great people.

350AD. Great Prophet is absorbed.

520AD. Beelining for Military Tradition to get Cavalry.

540AD. Traded Mansa Musa ivory for fur and spices.
Received another great prophet and absorbed him. Sending
an olliphant to guard my copper near Mansa Musa. Began
consturction of Angkor Wat (13 turns).

580AD. I turned down open borders with Mansa Musa to
try to keep the peace with Napolean. Was that a good
move?

720AD. First great scientist; I am using him to build
an academy. I was the first to discover Music. I have
a great artist. I don't know what to use him for,
Obsolete?! Should I absorb him or use him for a
conquored city to expand borders? I don't see any other
use.

800AD. Angkor Wat completed. I'm building a settler
(3 turns). There is an open horse tyle that my
settler could obtain. If not, I will take on Mansa Musa.
Is that a wise plan with such an aggressive person
that would then be on my rear?

860AD. Napolean grabbed the horse tyle. I have to go
after Mansu Munsa then. Correct???

900AD. Bureaucracy adopted. Thinking about changing
tech tree agenda. Olliphants being built for war.

920AD. I looked at tech tree. It seems I am commited
to war for horses against Mansa Musa. Too much time
to recommit; that has been my problem in the past.
Any advice???

1180AD. A city in my NE joins due to culture. I accept.
I have built up quite a defense with olliphants only.
I guess I better attack soon.

1510AD. I took Constitution as free technology; it was
the most sci-hammers. Beelining for Democracy for free
specialists in every city. Critique???

1685AD> went to sleep.

Are you playing against any human opponents? If not, I'll move this to the Civ4 strategies subforum.

Edit: Also, this isn't a real-time forum, you're not often going to get someone downloading and critique-ing a save within thirty minutes of your post.

And Mansa loves free market whereas I need
to prefer using mercantilism using Obsolete's method.

I don't have much time to look or get too indepth right now. One point I'll make is you don't have to stick in mercantilism. Generally mercantilism has it's advantages sometimes for production & science boosts, as well as denying routes to the AI. However, often when FM comes available, your cities may be at the point where you make more money & science running that than mercantilism. Though you lose out on a single GP.

And when you get SP available as a civic, you should USUALLY adapt to it and then try to hold onto it.
