Left 4 Dead

Expert mode is awesome.

GG Pugwash. Out of interest was I randomly shooting at folk when I quit? I was trying to hit the 'exit game' button and it kept having me fire the shotgun. I was having some nasty connection problems in that second map, though :p

GG indeed, was fun. I didn't notice you randomly shooting at the end, you just kinda stood there. The exact same thing happened to me though when I tried to quit. Had to alt-tab out then ctrl-alt-delete it. Weird.

I tried the demo too. Really nice atmosphere (feels like Dawn of the Dead and 28 days combined ) and good game elements (the odd zombie with special powers boomers, smokers, and hunters). The lack of destructibility in the environment, plus lack of HL2 physics, makes it a bit on the lame side for me.

Would love to see a L4Dead and TF2 cross over though. Pyros burning zombies would be a riot.

I was thinking of how fun it's be to play as TF2 chars with hordes of zombies to just slaughter.

There isn't a lot you can destroy anyways, and no reason to waste ammo taking apart cupboards/cabinents that could take quite a few shots to actually fall apart. And I don't see how you can know if it lacks HL2 physics or not.

Collect all 10 Team Fortress 2 action figures!

One thing that has always pissed me off, why are there little things like this cerial box, and other signs with writing in games, that is actual writing but too pixellated to read without somekind of magnefying/clarification device?

I really liked the messages in the first safe room. Messages from the people before us, reminding us were not the only people dealing with the crisis. I also liked the ads and signs I've seen. For whatever reason they seem so much more realistic than similar ads and signs in other games.

Its obvious that there is no physics other than the character models. Compare it with HL2, and there's no puzzles, walls blowing up, objects to move and stack, etc... It'd be fun to have like a 'confidence course' where the team has to communicate to overcome obstacles--building bridges, etc...

Cool, one more TF2 class? What do you think it will be? A tank driver / armored golf cart? A helicopter? Maybe a Ranger who can climb walls and rappel down ropes?

I don't recall walls blowing up in Hl2, and I have seen items get knocked around (dish soap bottle, cereal box, etc). So I'm pretty sure it has the physics (which, really, are Source Engine and not specific to HL2, HL2 just uses them a lot more).

Agree with Scamp. The physics are there, it's just that there is less of it than HL2. Haven't you seen tanks blowing stuff up and throwing them in your direction ?

Btw, I just had a very good news by email, so as an instant gratification I pre-ordered L4D.
Can't wait until tomorrow. :)

Tomorrow? Wait, WHAT!? ALREADY! WOOOOO! HELL YEAH!

I didn't even look at the date yesterday :p

I think that, however, I will play through the singleplayer first, as the servers will no doubt be JAM PACKED for the first while.

For some reason I had it in my mind that the game was released Wednesday. Very handy, as I only "pre"ordered and downloaded the game yesterday.

So far good fun. Going through the single player for now, got a bit surprised when the second level from the demo turned out to be larger than what it was. Spent ages in what used to be the safe room wondering why the level wouldn't change :p

Just wait until you get to the last mission on that campaign. I've tried it three times, and have yet to beat it on Advanced. Its insane.

I managed to kill the Tank, but after that a huge wave of infected showed up and slaughtered us. Definitely need some human support.

Started as soon as I got home (around 07:30) and finally stopped just now after getting beaten over and over again at the top of mercy hospital. My AI partners are just morons.
And I can't believe how many times our demise came from a smoker. The last time he got me seconds before I finished to use my medkit, while at the same time of course the last AI got vomited on by a boomer

Good fun, very intense action and nice levels.
Played advanced and the challenge is quite steep, I can't even begin to imagine what expert is going to be like.
