Does anyone play this?

I recently picked it up on steam for not very much, and I have to say its thoroughly enjoyable. Yet another success story for Valve. Its certainly the best co op game ive ever played. I have had some truly epic games with me literally shouting at my computer and when we escape, I punched the air in celebration feeling like i really achieved something. I think for a game to do that to me now in my late 20s means its pretty darn good.

I hate both L4D and L4D2 because of the co-op and voting system.

I think nearly every sort of team game has installed some form of voting system. What are you supposed to do if you get someone who thinks its a good idea to just kill his team mates. Also co op is the whole point of L4D surely?

L4D2 is a lot of fun if you play with friends. Me, mechaerik, and Red_Spy play custom maps a bit.

And therefore the whole point of the game is terrible. The voting system is, more often than not, abused, because if you're just trying to play and someone votes to kick you out, people are more likely to vote yes versus no. Especially if they say you're intentionally TKing.

It is the same problem in most multiplayer games, but worse in L4D.

... What? "Oh no this game has coop!" ?

Yes.

As Maniacal said, your problem is idiots, not coop. If you can't find non-idiots to play with, don't whine about coop and expect it to be taken away from people who actually have fun with good people.

Coop should be available in a lot more games.

Games that use coop as a crutch are a plague.

If every co-op game that you play is terrible but most people seem to be enjoying themselves maybe the problem is you.

L4D2 is incredibly fun if you play it with friends. I used to play it with some combination of Maniacal, RubRum, CivGeneral, Kan' Sharuminar, or Captain2, and it was always a fun time since we all knew each other and didn't have to deal with random idiots. If you just play with whoever, it isn't going to be as much fun.

This. I also wish more games would release same-console coop too. How fun would it be to, say, play Skyrim or Farcry co-op?

Business choice: develop same-console coop, or spend less time and money developing a decent split screen and get the bonus of forcing people to buy 2 copies? Hm..

"decent split screen" was a problem when most American children owned crappy 20-30" CRTs. Nowadays most middle class American households have high definition bigscreen plasmas or lcds. I don't think developing a split screen should be a problem. Call me old school I guess.
