Lesson Learned: Never take more than two cities on huge maps.

I'm not calling anyone untrustworthy. i just think that he's new to the game and doesn't understand how SERIOUSLY (still don't feel I've put enough emphasis on SERIOUSLY) the AI takes it when you lie to them about DoWing a civ after you've DoFd or lied to them about what your armies were doing on their borders.

And to you, I would warn you that the AI will lie to you about it's feelings towards you. Just because it has bigger fish to fry right now doesn't mean it won't turn on you. However, in your case it sounds like you got enough from them that you're pretty much set up for now.

I do admit that it's possible the OP is new to Civ. And to get the whole world to declare me dead to them, I gotta do something like betray one with DOF up eh.... I've never tried that before.

I've lied about my troops not invading only to invade like 1-2 turns later before but the diplo fallout wasn't that bad. Although I think I only did that like two times ever. And I only did that to my mortal enemy that I really hated. He asked me if i'm hiding in the shadows like a child I was like nah, they're protecting my border but then couple of turns later I thought about his insult to me about shadow child thing and dow'd immediately. I must been pretty strong to the world for most of the AIs to stay out of it and only do denouncing.

It doesn't that much in the later stages when you betray DoF or lie about troops at the border, when most of the world already hates you. But if you do that early, and often, you can get chain DoW easy.

That's also the problem with pangea maps (which the OP's game seems to be) - because you meet everyone early on, they all know your business. If you screw up diplomatically early on, you'll suffer the consequences for the entire game. Once a chain denounce starts, there's really no undoing it. And it's easier to get chained denounced when you know everyone and can't start fresh by meeting someone new.

I am thankful for this thread. It has resulted in one of my more funnier civ5 games I had in such a long time.

Yes, games where I have intentionally pissed everyone off have been some really good games.

The AI also knows if you'd back-stabbed before meeting because it's programmed into the game.

If I re-call, I had three DoFs in the game.
