Let's Play Civ 5: A New Challenger Approaches!

I rarely build Barracks, I would create a bit more troops if I were you (archers) so you can upgrade them to Crossbow later on and to be on the safe side (so no one thinks you are a weak target but that is not so relevant in this level of difficulty)

I wouldn't have created Damascus there -
I think the 2 important spots to now take are:
+ south to Medina to have the iron, the sheep and the INCENSE !!
+ West of Sparta to steal the silk

Then trade gems for spices to Alexander to ensure happiness flowing in as city grows. You will then need to build workshop --> Colliseum / Circus to be able to continue expanding. Other solution is ignore expanding and go on the war path and raise the 2 opponents.

I'd agree with Makaz that you should focus your settling to the south. The north only has city states so you don't have to worry about them filling it up too quickly (though they do seem to grow fast enough that you'll need to get some cities soon). The Iron/sheep/incense city looks like a good site, but I'm not too sure where exactly to settle it; maybe just east of the sheep?

Are you planning on warring quite a bit? I'd generally be in favor of conquering your continent before the foreign AIs meet your neighbors, but Alex is pretty tough in the early game (or he has good units; I don't know if the AI is capable of putting up a good fight with him or not).

Sorry for the lack of posting--been a lot of work to attend to this week. I will try to play the next session tomorrow!
