The heck? Put him in Roman gear man! Although the chest hairs add a nice effect give him a breastplate and deck him out in the red clothing - maybe like the left guy in this picture http://www.prophecyupdate.com/roman_soldier.jpg

Suggested traits . . . Organized and well . . . not Aggressive, we might need to come up with new traits to vary your leaders more. But under no circumstance should you make him Aggressive. Combining Praetorians and Aggressive is the most egregious crime ever (With a barracks you can promote Praetorians twice upon being built and with the "Shock" upgrade they can dominate their only counter - the axeman).

Favorite civic would have to be Represenation, because he was part of the a faithful leader during the time of the Republic.

leaderheads never look as good as original firaxis. Just modify one of theirs.

Then it looks even worse when you do modify one of theirs because they look practically the same as the originals.

CivArmy: keep the original mesh saved as one file -- then make a modified one with some nice looking roman armor/helm. We can compare/contrast between which one we like better.

Besides, CivArmy's leaderhead usually do look as good as the originals. Some of the Civ 3 leaderhead makers actually have gotten their to look better. That's just negativity, which we don't need.

many people hate the original ones and ask me to create LHs not close of the Firaxis ones. the fact the LHs have different style doesn't mean they r good or bad.

now back to the topic, I'll post some new previews tomorrow using the tips of this thread :D I really want to create a Roman LH using armor :king:

OH MY GOD!

CivArmy s. 1994 , I am amazed once again by your artwork! He looks so real! And the chest / armpit hair that you have included is very detailed and realistic. This is one of the best leaderheads I've seen , by far.

When are you gonna be done so you can make mine :D I can't wait!

well, making him a Roman would be a good start.

armour and cloths are too 'plastic', add some texture there, then the helmet looks strange, so asian... possibly change that. Otherwise great artwork.

I wouldn't make Scipio organized, because Caesar already is. Organized and Spiritual would fit him best though. So maybe change Caesar to expansive, creative (he wrote some books ... :)) and make Scipio Organized, spiritual or just make Scipio industrious, spiritual.. Or well, practically everything fits... ;)

africanus got his name from conquering africa so he'd be expansive. julius caesar's books were about war so that seems to be just another expansive trait ;)

another version of Scipio

On traits: he used spiritual arguments to encourage his men. Whether he did this out of sincere belief or for showbiz is a point of debate.

He did not have the massive organisational skills of someone like Pompey, so perhaps organised is wrong. What he excelled at was daring, brilliant, original tactics and manoevers, which meant that, historically speaking, agressive would be appropriate.

I do not believe that he was particularly industrious. His skills were in battle. In peacetime he rotted away in bitter uselessness.

The picture looks good! Good work.

Picture looks good. Perhaps a leopard or lion skin around his neck, over his shoulders might be a good addition if you have them. Giving him a little tan also adds to the African campaign flavor.
