Special Report from the front.

the mighty and highly mobile new cannon of the french are proving their worth, heavily damaging the britons siege vessels.

on a cooler note, the citizens of nantes are reported to have subdued celebrations quelled by the briton conquerors, fearing for the intergrity of their reign of terror.
fear not, citizens and brothers, for the TriColor Armies approach and with them your freedom.

long live the emperor, ruler of france, the low lands and catalonia.

Thanks for the wishes guys. All pretty straightforward so far, but tonight is the first night home from hospital, so I expect all of about 30 minutse sleep tonight

Message from George III, by the Grace of God, King of Great Britain, France and Ireland, Defender of the Faith, etc. and Elector of Hannover.

His Majesty is pleased to announce that the invaders around Nantes have taken a battering. One unit of French cavalry, and one unit of French Imperial Guard have been disabled. Unfortunately, one unit of Household Cavalry was lost, and several more were wounded in the fierce fighting.

All other fronts are currently quiet.

Minsk_July_1803.JPG

A force of 'Musketeers' was routed in north-eastern Prussia. Prussian army-navy operations against Russia were deemed a success, more operations along these lines are planned by Gerhard von Scharnhorst. General Blucher will take over supporting operations in Russia.

reports from Paris are that an imminent shut down of all universities is a possibility, as the fervor for war is growing with the students.
there were reports of redhaired and british origin people being accosted in the streets, with 4 known lynchings.
it is not a good year for britons in france.

the new cannon are begining to impact the devils boats, and a firm lockdown of the baltic is under way with the new and improved batteries position in our danish holdings.

Our man in Nantes, reports that the populace is ripe for rescue.
the Emperor has seen this report and is supposed to have grunted in approval.
Vive Le France!
Free Nantes!

The Spanish city of Corunna has been captured for no loss, however several horses of the Household Cavalry needed a good brushing and combing afterwards. The Spanish were falling over themselves to surrender after watching the defending Soldido's tossed aside like an old salad.

We also defeated Spanish Soldido east of Porto.

Further, Spanish horsemen east of Lisbon forced to retreat and regroup after coming over attack by British Lifeguards.

All quiet currently on the French front, however, perhaps they should chose their allies more carefully. The Spanish collapse like a damp piece of paper in a gale force wind.

Minsk Falls
Minsk_falls.JPG

The garrison of Minsk finally was overwhelmed in a brutal battle which saw the new massed batteries of the Prussian army in action. The combined batteries blasted the Russian Guard defenders from their positions, for some reason they were caught unprepared. A bloody battle ensued with over 35,000 Prussian troops, despite heavy casualties the action came down to a last ditch do or die charge by the curiassers of the newly named Ost Guard regiment who finally overwhelmed the remaining defenders. The Duke of Brunswick praised the defenders for their blind bravery, but told the citizens of Minsk that even that could be no match for Prussian valour.

Prussian forces were also in action to the north of Vilnius where the combined guns of a force commanded by the newly arrived general Blucher decimated over 10,000 guard infantry who were despatched by troops from the Vilnius garrison.

Message from George III, by the Grace of God, King of Great Britain, France and Ireland, Defender of the Faith, etc. and Elector of Hannover.

Our battle for the freedom of Europe continues. We can announce that we destroyed more Spanish troops in the Iberian Peninsula. We also, held and consolidated our recent acquisitions there.

The Royal Navy also sunk a Swedish frigate that tried to brave the seas.

Other fronts continue to be quiet however we note with some displeasure the build up of the French rabble around Nantes.

Decision at the Siauliu Woods
General Blucher has but one motto when faced with an enemy threat. "Vorwards!" The course of the war between the Central Alliance and Russia could be decided in the Siauliu Forest, this geographical feature situated mid-way between Vilnius and Riga has been choosen as the site for Blucher's forces to make a stand against the Russian forces set against them. Prussian forces are believed to be out numbered by two to one and will have to hope that 'Prussian valour' and grapeshot will be enough to prevail.

Elsewhere the IPN Baltic hunted down and sank a privateer off the Swedish coast.

1803 has been a difficult year for the french.
the briton have reduced Nantes to a shadow of its former glory, and the french people have begun to doubt his highness resolve in freeing it again.
the time has come to unviel out forces.
the emperor has guarenteed that he shall celebrate XMas in his summer palace in nantes, if the barbaric britons deign to leave it intact.
our military might is such that we have remained gentle people, unlike our arch rivals, and camped on the outskirts of nantes for a breezy winter assault!

Message from George III, by the Grace of God, King of Great Britain, France and Ireland, Defender of the Faith, etc. and Elector of Hannover.

His Majesty has no intention of giving up his rightful ownership of Nantes in the ancient English Kingdom of Aquatine. Indeed, his Majesty has his eye on Normandy. Perhaps Napoleon would like return the rest of these regions to their rightful owner now?

To this end, French forces in the British territory around Nantes have faced a heavy bombardment. In fact, three units of Napoleons elite Imperial Guard were routed (when asked to surrender peacefully after the bombardment, they simply replied "Merde" so we had no choice). Two French Grand Batteries were captured and relocated to aid the defense of Nantes.

The French army outside the gates of Gibralter has been similarly hit. Gibralter will not fall without a fight.

On the water, a loaded Swedish transport headed for the King's waters has been sunk. Other Swedish ships have been spotted and will soon join their friends at the bottom of the sea.

God Save the King!

Russian Assault Repulsed at Siauliu Forest
An outnumbered Prussian force under General Blucher threwback a sustained Russian assault at the Siauliu Forest. A number of Russian regiments were routed during the struggle and only a final stand by the survivors denied the Prussians a complete victory

RADEC1804.JPG
PUJAN1804.JPG

The Heroic defenders of the newly completed Siauliu fortress have since been relieved by fusiller regiments from Vilnius including the 2nd Konigsberg volunteer regiment. Battle raged even as our brave civilian workers laboured to complete the fortress. Speaking to journalists the war minister claimed that this action may well have ended Russian superiority in this area and that the fall of other cities was now inevitable. He hoped Russia would soon see sense and come to accept it's new position within Europe so that the conflict could be brought to an end.

Elsewhere the foreign ministry rebuffed the Swedish ambassador for objecting to Prussia's police action near Huskvarna and asked if it was Swedish policy to harbour criminals.

news from the front are disturbing.
rumours of huge fields of dead and dying are spreading throughout france and england.
english spies caught out of Nantes report that in the french assault 3 of the Queen's Best Regiments have been utterly destroyed, lowering morale of the troops.
they have had, regretably managed to slip word to thier masters in crime, that 2 regiments of french horse have been routed, while several others actually fled the battle.
that part is discarded by the french as it is well known that his highness has taken personal command of the field, and no french soldier will flee, exposing his emperor to danger. :D

on a happier note, i have passed the 2K VP mark, and am gaining on quarky's lead!

Message from William Pitt the Younger, Prime Minster of the United Kingdom.

His Majesty King George III is currently unavailable, so I will inform the public of the latest news.

Never kick a Sleeping Bulldog!

The latest French attempts to invade Nantes should now be over. In the 1804 2nd Battle for Nantes, a battle of the most horrific and bloody kind, the seige has been nigh on lifted. There are still stragglers wandering aimlessly across the countryside, but they are expect to wander back onto French soil as soon as their wits return. In total, on this bloody day, six units of French Imperial Guard, and one unit of French Imperial Cavalry, were lost to the enemy. Three French Grand Battery's were captured and returned to Nantes.

scotgreyszb2.jpg

On ourside, we must admit there has been casulties. When the French have their backs to the wall, they refuse to lie down. Two units of His Majesty's Household Cavalry (both Scot Grey units) were lost, and several more were critically injured in the fierce melee. In addition, a redcoat unit captured the battery's in what looks like will amount to a suicide mission. The brave officers who ordered the charge (but are safe in Nantes) will of course receive a medal for the actions of the unit.

nanteshu7.jpg

Elsewhere, further news from Spain. One unit of Household Cavalry was lost in a battle south of Corunna against French insurgents (Imperial Guard), however the Imperial Guard are wounded and not expected to last the month.

Also, a frigate of the Royal Navy was sunk after being outgunned by multiple Swedish flotilla's. There time will come though. They will not reach Great Britain.

The Ottomans also suffered a bloody nose at the hands of His Majesty's troops. An Ottomon frigate was sunk by a Man'o'War in sight of Athens in the ultimate insult to the Ottoman Navy, and indeed two units of Ottoman Sipahi which invaded soverign territory north of Florence were battered. One unit was lost, and the other will not doubt be in full flight back to the desolate wasteland that passes for Ottoman territory.

Elsewhere, the Atlantic Convoy continues to ferry men and materials to each required front. We doth our caps to the brave men of the Royal Navy.

The King, he is expected back in the next couple of months, and the Government will not be drawn into the reasons behind his absence, except to say that he is unwell, but nothing serious.
