Hi All
A few times over the last 10 years I've made the effort to type in some new city names for various civilizations, either adding to the existing lists or creating new ones. As I'm sure you're all aware, this is a very tedious and time-consuming job. I didn't bother to save my previous efforts, thinking "I'll probably never play Civ II (ToT) again" - famous last words!
Anyway - after doing a Google and looking through this site, I've not found anything. Has anyone come across a revised / amplified city list for the "standard" civilizations in Civ II / ToT? I'm in the middle of doing the USA now, and may do a couple of others that I like to play (English, Russian, possibly China). Any help appreciated.
Cheers
Peter

I've changed a few of the standard cities used in the Fantasy game of ToT.

For example, I change Grympen Mire, Brocken Mtn, and several other Goblin and Stygian names. The originals just don't have the same appeal to me.

Grympen Mire = Grumpy Mike
Brocken Mtn = Broken Mountain

I don't use actual names for cities in the Cloud World, as it's too hard to remember which world they're in. So Cloud cities get alphanumeric designations such as Magic Cloud A-1, Grey Cloud A-1, and so on. Cities in the Underworld get a C attached to them (for "cave") so I know which world it's in. The Undersea cities have a W (for "water") attached to them.

When I'm playing the Science fiction game of ToT (as I am tonight), I use alphanumeric designations for orbital cities and cities on Nona. These use the system of Orbit A-1, Nona A-1, etc. For Naumachian cities, I use the Greek alphabet and first three letters of "Naumachia." For example, the first city I build there is called Alphanau 1. The second, if built around the same dust lake, is Alphanau 2. If it's built around a different dust lake, it's Betanau 1.

It may seem a little complicated at first, but I always know which world my cities are on. :)

Thanks Valka D'Ur for your suggestion. I have done it that way in the past, but I prefer to have the actual city names. I don't play Fantasy or SciFi, only normal or extended. As such, I am trying to get "real world" names - seems much more like "playing god" when the names are proper places...:mischief:
