List of Human Stupidities

WRITE IT DOWN !

Here is a list of 'efficient' SS (which means 3 modules, 1 of each kind, and Fusion Power, for increased speed):

15,6,1,1,1 = 15.7 years
17,8,1,1,1 = 13.2 years
21,10,1,1,1 = 10.0 years
25,12,1,1,1 = 8.3 years
29,14,1,1,1 = 6.7 years
33,16,1,1,1 = 5.7 years

i had an unbeatable tatic, it was on deity level. i had built an advanceing force of armours. thinking that i only had one more civilization left to contend with i switched to fanatasim and moved my whole force of 30 armours north emptying 18 of my strongest citys, not realising that the aztec civs have just restarted south of me and moved there chariots through 7 of my citys and making me lose.....never again will i leave my citys defenceless.

Getting back to Terrapin's post of 07/15:

Either that, or build a unit (like an explorer) that you will never use and only will have one of. Let him wait in a city (any city) and whenever you see him, hit "w". When he is the only unit unmoved in any given turn, you can do your housekeeping.

Marlos, I actually tried that for a while. However, the same brain addling disease that lead me to rush through my turns also caused me to forget to "W" the unit. The Pacchyderm of Higher Education's tip works just fine though... A 100% increase in my "playing skills" completely divorced from any strategic or tactical consideration!

The most stupid thing I ever did was to send a nuke towards an enemy capital city without paying much attention to it's journey, just hitting the button to move it forward and then BAM!

Some poor settler unit was happily building some irrigation or somet, only to look up into the sky and witness that nuclear missile come crashing down on top of him.

I felt soooooo guilty.

I've done the same thing, only with a Cruise Missile. It was bearing down upon one of my enemy's cities, then I noticed a Settler in front of it. However, it wasn't in time to stop my finger from pressing that key again...

Another thing I've done is loaded a Trireme with my only Veteran units, then miscounted the number of squares to the enemy coast. The trireme ended up foundering.

Ever go clicking through a stack of camels for adding to a wonder, to only discover that you're fifty shields short & one of your trade routes is gone (and now a food route?) Happened just two days ago in one of my P-5 games. :(

You seem to be posting in lots of threads to ask the same question. For MP the multiplayer forum is the place to ask it (post a new thread if necessary).

Remember, this is a forum, not a chat group. And that means people might be online, or they might not. People might be interested, or they might not.

And posting around a lot is considered spamming, so don't do that.

If you want a game/answer right now, you're probably out of luck.

If you want an answer, post a thread in the multiplayer forum, asking your question. See if anyone answers it right away. If no-one does, come back later (later today, or later this week), to look if anyone answered yet. If no-one has answered in a few days, post a reply to your own thread to ask for some attention.

If you want a game, post your contact info in the appropriate thread in the multiplayer forum... Or contact the people that are already listed.

I didn't like my starting position, so I gathered up a settler and a chariot into a trireme and left my only city to find a new, better place. As an AI unit crept closer to my city, I ignored it, assuming that even without a city, I could stay in the game. I was wrong.

One funny stupidity is that civ is a american game but you can get comminism to work

damn .. 5 min. ago .. my capital fell ... and my empire broke in two .. the best thing .. all my nuclear weapons were in the lost cities..

OUCH!

I've lost mine to the enemy (Sioux) and then they proceeded to use em on ME. I defended Munich (my nuclear launchpad into Russia) with 1 Vet Alpine, since i had negotiated peace with the Sioux and was never at war with Russia (plan was to nuke em then go in with troops, catch em off guard lol)

"Sneak attack by Sioux Forces" Munich fell Nukes shot on Berlin, Sioux beat me. :nuke:

I hate the Sioux :D

My very stupidest action was attacking a Cruiser with a fully-loaded Aircraft Carrier  :wallbash: :cringe:

I forgot to build a SDI Defense in a city and
it was blasted by a nuclear missile.
When I selected it, I realized why there was no
SDI: they were researching Cure for Cancer!

Good, the guys there will really need this
research now!

My most irritating thing is as follows: I generally take over the globe with dip/spies. As long as I have the money and UN, there are never any problems. however, I usually prop up my closest civ with an alliance and a long string of gifted knowledge. I keep them at a worshipful level, and use their troops to go to war with the other civ. When They are the last civ, I send the spies into their land and take them out. Generally works great, but in my last game, I gifted them the wrong string of advances, and accidentally gave them democracy. The turn before I tuned on them, guess what gov. they swithched to... Had to win with a spaceship. Kinda anti-climactic after spending a thousand years or so conqering the planet. Damn...

That reminds me of another.. Overthrowing your govt. and forgetting to turn civil disorder notice off, 20 minutes of clicking ok.
I actually DID know to do this, but:

My big mistake -- and I do repeat it now and then -- is turning off my civil disorder notice, but then forgetting to turn it back ON once I have my new gov't. The setting remains constant if you shut down the program and start a new game, BTW. I recently played a game where the bulk of my cities weren't producing anything, and I was all, "What's wrong with my cities?" -- for about four turns -- before I noticed the little fists (which I had trained myself to ignore, since the Civil Disorder screen alerts me!).

Here's one that's more to do with scenario creation:
I'd accidentally given some land units "ranges" like they were aircraft, so I went through rules.txt and removed the range values, but I accidentally took off the range value of a static air unit whih was meant to be a landmark, and when I went to playtest it the AI kept attacking and I had no idea why!
