Little questions & answers thread

I'm finding I can't convert city-states to my religion on my current save; this is the first time I've ever tried as far as I can remember. Whenever I move my missionary to a city-state, the "spread religion" button is greyed out and the mouseover says "Spread Religion cannot be used on a settlement that is being razed". This must be a bug, right?
Yes, this happened to me. I had befriended an IP, turning it into a city-state. Before I could get my missionary down there, an AI rival had sent its military to the CS -- conquered it -- and started the multi-turn raze. In Civ3/Civ4/Civ6, razing is instantaneous. In Civ5/BERT and now Civ7, the raze takes multiple turns.

In previous games, though, if an AI captured one of my cities and started the raze, it was possible for me to recapture it and stop the raze. I hope that still happens in Civ7 (I haven't lost a settlement yet). I would be even happier if it were possible for me to recapture the city-state, "liberate it", and stop the raze.

Is everyone else getting the happiness crisis the most in antiquity? I still haven’t gotten the barbarian crisis (does it even still exist?), and the antiquity plague is a welcome reprieve the few times when it arrives.
I get plague 90% of the time, 10% happiness. Didn't even realise there were more crises.

We'll just have to wait on a patch to fix it.
Thankfully there seems to be a fix now where you still get the terms agreements messages most times, but now there's an added Legal Placeholder Text window to deal with as well.

I'm trying so hard to get the challenge for cultural legacy as Rome, but I'm finding I can't build any wonders. Some of the only requirements are to be on the coast, and I have coast tiles, so why can't I build any wonder? I'm 1 short right now.

It's so frustrating I can't get this challenge done. I'm certain they haven't been built, I'm not on that high a difficulty level. Oh well.

Oh yes, lol. Sorry!

I was super-psyched to just manage my first-ever Quadruple Golden Age (Confucius as Ming, previously Han), and on my first time jumping up to Sovereign difficulty too! And then I saw that I completed zero challenges in doing so. My guess is that this is because I've already done well-enough playing through Explo as Confucius, but is there a way to check which challenges I can still complete? Currently this acchievement is just for my own personal validation, apparently.

Go to the menu and press challenges. You likely should have gotten something unless you have already beaten each path 3 times with him...so I am thinking glitch.

Silly question...but you are trying to build them in cities right? Rome kind of limits cities so may be a bit hard. Towns can't build wonders.

Do I have to download that fix anywhere? I still get the "terms of use" message every time after finishing a game.

Of course, I even tried reloading and converting each of my towns to cities to see if anyone had a place to build it. Either the AI built them, or there are more placement requirements than listed. I'm mainly referring to the Mauseleum one which just needs a coast. It's fairly late in the tree, so it seems like it should have been available. Not a biggie, I'm sure I'll play Rome again some day.

It isn't on a Coast but adjacent to it... could that be it?

AI likely beat you to them.

I'm missing something on influence. Do you pick it up when you win battles? I'm in modern age and my per turn is relatively low but after 2-3 turns I end up with a thousand influence.

You get influence when people get caught spying on you and things like that.

I spent hours reloading to the beginning of the exploration age in my first game. Turns out no matter how much I pumped befriending, or not at all, Napoleon would disperse it on the turn before I would become suzerain. We're talking like six turn difference. I watched him do it with my units, he just stacked military there to take it in two turns, always waiting until the turn before I got it to disperse.

That's some vicious coding.

This screen puzzles me. I selected to build a granary and then this is what is see. I am not sure hat it means. Does the tile with 8 food and 1 smiley produces 8 after i build the granary? or is that tile destroyed when i build the granary?

Yes the tile will produce 8 after you build the granary. The farm which is currently there will be destroyed, and you will have the chance to put it somewhere else.

Have we ever confirmed if we get commanders back if we lose one? I lost mine just now

edit: it seems they do return after about 20 turns on epic speed.
:(
