Hi all,

I have last posted probably one year ago regarding the same bug.
Back then the problem couldn't be solved unfortunately and I was annoyed and distracted enough to forget about civ.

However, no I wanted to give it another try, unfortunately the same problem:

I don't see living resources (Sheep, horses, whales... the lot) on my map. All I see are the shadows wandering around.

Now, how can that be? Game was purchased in March 2006.
- It is patched in order with Patch 1.52 , 1.61 , 1.74.
- I have uninstalled the game 2 times. I patched it patch by patch and always had a look to see if the resources would finally show up - but they didn't.

In which folder should the graphics be in? Maybe they are simply missing? But then this bug should be well known I reckon.

Thanks for any help and suggestions.

from the official civilization IV site:
minimum system requirements:
Video:

DirectX 9.0c-compatible 64 MB video card with Hardware T&L support ( GeForce 2/Radeon 7500 or better)

your card lacks two of three requirements: it does not have hardware T&L (transform and lightning) support - which makes it incompatible with some/most of the 3d effects in the game and it does not (fully) support DirectX9c (being build for DirectX 7 only) - which in turn causes trouble with lots of graphics effects. I fear apart from rechecking that your driver is uptodate this is a hardware limitation for which there is no workaround - it is actually a surprise that the game works at all :(

Well thanks mate,
wouldn't have had a clue about the T&L.

I have DirectX 9 installed - maybe it doesn't perform to its fullest?

Anyway, I'll check out a new graphic card.

Cheers t
