sorry I can't post this time round guys, I'm sick and I'm just notifying everyone of the things I'm missing. I'll probably be out of it for a few days or so, just skip me :(

OK, I got the save. Posted by HotRod on Oct 3 right? Its hard to tell with all of these skips. I had judged this game dead and didn't watch for a while. Anyways, I'll play later tonight.

OK, here we are:

LK30: My 10

(0) On techs, only Russia has one we don't (Code of Laws), and they aren't willing to deal.

(1) I see an American warrior/settler pair heading to our river spot. Damn. That would have been a very nice city after it was cleared. Too bad. A barb destroys improvements near Konigsburg, so he must die. Crap! I pull our fortified warrior out of Konigsburg, and he LOSES! Damn, so they'll raid Konigsburg. Sorry guys, bad choice. I take our newly built settler and send him east, for the southern river will be taken before he can get there.

(2) Americans build Buffolo on the east side of the river. This makes me consider putting a half city on the west side of the river, put culture pressure on Buffolo, but I decide against it. Our ROP just expired, so there will be no more American settlers, unless by ship.

(3) With the spearman/settler reaching the hill city, I make a dotmap. I look at two options: on the coastal hill, and inland on jungle. I decide on the coastal hill, against LKendter's suggestion. Why? The inland will not be a port city, will not be on a hill, and will have heavy overlap with another city. Sure, it has less wasted tiles (about 2 less) but it has 3 more overlap, so I go with the original plan.

(4) Nothing really. Worker built in Frankfurt, Temple ordered up so we can close the gap in the 'plug' city, keeping America in.

(5) Nuremburg founded on the aforementioned spot. Our galley finds the continent to the southeast is just an island with grassland and desert.

(6) Hamburg riots (sorry!). I will have to raise lux, or let Hamburg stagnate, so I raise lux. This puts us at -1, so I'll have to lower science rate.

(7) Literature discovered. I decide to go for Poly-->Monarchy. Will suit us for 'liberating' our continent. Settler built in Berlin, he is sent to a spot up North.

(8) Lincoln offer TM for TM, I up it to WM and Code for Lit and TM. He accepts. Damn the RNG! A horseman defeats our Vet spear w/o losing a single HP.

(9) The Russians are building the GL. Various worker production.

(10) Nothing. This was my ten.

Here is a shot of the city I plan to build (warrior/settler on GoTo there):

Yellow is the city and its radius, black is overlap, red is wasted, and blue are the radii of the other cities after they expand.

BAD save.

That is the save from the begining of the round.
Please attach save from the end of your turns.

Crap! I know how that happened: I was trying to delete my old save, but since my last SG was in the ADs, I deleted the newest one (3xx BC). Damn it! Should I play it over, or just skip me?

"(6) Hamburg riots (sorry!). I will have to raise lux, or let Hamburg stagnate, so I raise lux. This puts us at -1, so I'll have to lower science rate."

Just move Berlin's warrior over, then build another one :)

Could the game still be in the recycle bin?

Do you still have an autosave?

LKendter, your common knowledge of computers that I lack amazes me! Here is my game, fresh from the recycle bin (thank God I never empty it!):

I can't play. I will have to drop out of this SG.

The Great Lighthouse is a waste of time on this map. We can reach the other main landmass without it. We can even trade with the other landmass. CANCEL the Lighthouse, as we gain no benefit. We know the area of one of the remaining civs borders, so there is very little left to find. 300 shields down to drain for no gain.

ABANDON THIS WASTE OF TIME FOR A HARBOR, AND MOVE ON

This only waste 41 shields, and will have some benefit.

We could have built at least 2 spear / settler pairs during this time when we still have land to claim. Maybe we could have avoided Bufallo being built and costing us a good city location.

Our ROP just expired, so there will be no more American settlers, unless by ship.
 I don’t understand the above comment. If any AI civ wants to get past, they will simply cross our borders. They have ZERO respect for border when they want to get a settler past.

LAK-163.jpg

Let’s take a look at Munich
Red Square – Complete waste of time – abandon the task. It will be a 100+ turns before this mountain is used.
Yellow Square – Why did we mine the plain? Munich already has 2 forest to get 2 shields from. This was a wasted worker action.
Black Square – This is the NUMBER ONE priority – clear this forest to increase the size of the city.
Production Choice – Temple, not spearman. We need to claim the two green squares. This is the key to growth in this city.

Unless LKendter plays, we're down to three...

I have no interest in playing a regent game – my standard level is Emperor.

LK30

330 BC (0): Make Lee's suggested changes harbor at Hamburg, and workers moved off mountain to help with other mountain road.

310 BC (1): Finish harbor at Hamburg start galley, move warrior back into Heidleburg for protection against barb horsey. Jungle clearing at Leipzig, roads at Frankfurt.

Americans start GL, Hamburg revolts :smoke:, hire taxman.

290 Bc (2): Warrior fortifys in Heid.

270 BC (3): Berlin spear is complete start settler. Found Colongne to the North, 1 tile overlap with Konigsberg, start temple. Change Konigsberg to temple.

250 BC (4): Decide to change munich to barracks, can then produce vet spears for northern MP duty. America and Russia want WM and 100 gold for Philo., decide to wait.

230 BC (5): Leipzig builds granary and start settler. Munich builds barracks and starts spearman.

210 BC (6): Hamburg builds galley and starts temple.

190 BC (7): Galley to the West, see 2 new boarders, pink and yellow, by F10 they are China and Egypt.

170 BC (8): American troops are very close to our workers, are they attacking?? Buy Roman worker for 27 gold. Russia has contact with the others but won't trade.

150 BC (9); Contact with China next turn, American warrior leaves the workers by Leipzig alone. Settler at Berlin due next turn.

130 BC (10): Berlin Produces Settler, start spearman for escort. France must be somewhere else. Trade WM and 90 gold for Philosophy, contact with France, Egypt and WM.

I saved the game without moving the settler. Couple options as I see it now, use the galley to ferry the settler and spear to the north, or to the island to the east, or move to the jungle by the American city of Buffalo and put cultural pressure on.

Also, Construction is available for trade but all want over 200 gold at first look. Will will have poly in 3 turns with +0 gold, I didn't set up the new embassies yet either, they are in the 40-60 gold range each for France, Egypt and China. It is the next players decision to get them now and blow our 218 gold, or wait. All are polite.

Here is the save:
