We will have several options after the war with India ends. One would be to fight another short war with Russia, to take those cities that are close to our FP, and then begin the transition into a democratic government. Another would be to immediately begin this transformation, and the other would be to continue in monarchy, and destroy all who oppose us. I favor the first option, as those cities right next to our FP would be very valuable, and it really shouldn't take that long to accomplish.

Considering that domination may be our only way to win, we might have to push Russia around.

I agree. Russia should be our next target and the cities around the FP would be very valuable. However, I would like to transfer to a Communist government and then fight a war with America, which would give us lots of elbow room. Then I would consider a democratic government.

We should build more too! With the comming of Smiths, we can support as many banks, markets and harbors as possible. We need to make as many as we can, so we save the money AND we make the money. Then we build more lib/unis. A war with America- A MUST. Russia: would be nice, gives us more. But build!!

Why would a communist government be better? It has communal corruption and waste.

Our long term plan should include expansion into Russia and America while still following a development plan in our empire.

I agree with the first option as it's the closest, I believe to what was the genral consensus before the Indian attack. I think we should stay in a Monarchy as we expand both to the west and the east. I think we can also manage a semi-build period during this time.

Russia would nice to push around for a bit, but considering it's location, we should still procede with caution because it's very likey that anything we capture from Russia will flip to Babylon.

The general startegy sounds perfect to me. A few more wars while knights and cavalry are effective, then a building period while we wait for panzers.

What would be the arguments against taking out Babylon instead of Russia? We are as well positioned and they would seem to be a richer target.

If we are going to have another war, let us try to do it with cavalry and artillery rather than knights and nothing else. Both units seem to be within reach.

I would be interested in a more general evaluation of our position by one of our more experienced leaders. What makes America so much more of a threat than, say, France or Babylon? Does the system favor the expansionist at this level of play?

We do seem to be working up a comfortable lead in terms of territory and resources, and a transition to Republic or Democracy would hopefully cement that lead with an enormous bankroll and at least a break-even level in science.

For the record, I play most of my games at king or emperor, but haven't made many attempts at deity. I understand the Cheat Level for the AI is pretty fabulous.

Babylon is the richer empire of the two but would be less profitable to attack, since almost none of their possessions (Izibia being the sole exception) lie within effective range of either our Palace or FP. Additionally, we would have to travel further to launch an attack on the Babs once the aforementioned city had been taken, so it would prove harder to give effective support to the offensive.

America is an attractive target not so much because of the threat it poses (although having managed to steer clear of conflict thus far it is surely no weakling), but because it is a large and fertile territory which, once conquered, could become a highly productive asset to Fanatika if we have the sense to relocate our capital to a city somewhere southwest of its current position. No other nation is so conveniently placed to bolster our empire's production base.

Okay, I follow you.

So an offensive along the line of Osaka-Rostov-Minsk-etc. would secure the needed territory and probably reduce the Russians to a minor power for the rest of the game.

And, of course, a assault by a good horde of cavalry and our capital moved to the southeast would make the Americans a good catch. Then Fanatika will be dominant on both ends of the continent, positioned to win any sort of victory when the Panzers show up.
