Looking for a certain game...

I'm not sure where to turn as I've spent about an hour surfing the web trying to find a game that best meets a certain list of desirables. If anyone has any suggestions, I would be grateful. Web based, free, new, old, expensive, whatever...but this is what I want:

- Simultaneous turn, strategy game
- Supports a minimum of 6 players multiplayer
- Relatively few but long to play turns
- War/fighting is not 100% of the game

The idea is to play with a group of friends online and only have to make a turn every few days. We want the game to end at some point, hence the relatively few turns. Something like Civ 4 would be perfect except for #3. Thanks in advance for suggestions.

Well, Civ immediately comes to mind.

#4 rules out MANY RTSs like Starcraft, the Age of Emprie series, Warcraft, unless you find a mod that has major changes that enable more non-war stuff or agree to limit attacks or something.

For Age of mythology there is a Sims game tpye made by users, quite a few mods, but basicaly the idea was to claimbuy a plot of land, units, etc. Build, maybe do some fighting, the host would have 999 meteor strikes and uber units to enforce his will (for better or worse).

Other than that, I'm out of ideas for now. I wish I had a bunch of friends that I could LAN with. Lucky you.

Civ and Galactic Civ would be my picks on the closest. Barring those you can browse through this list.

Freeciv is the first thing that comes to mind.

Also VGA Planets comes to mind.

He is asking for less-tuerned base if possible. You could also look at this list, but most of them are indeed focused on combat.

Stronghold has both war and economy, Stronghold 1 being the best one of the series, and I think it can support 4 people for sure, maybe 6 but I don't know.
