Looking for someone to multiplay with me

I am 24 year old girl from Poland and I usually only single played Civ (I play since Civ2, and now I have the Civ5)

I am looking for someone friendly and honest to just play for fun with me, because single-player gets kind of boring... I tend to like Epic games, cooperative against the NPCs...

I am most used to play RPG games where I always loved to roleplay, although I don't see how such a thing can be done in Civ... I heard about "Diplogames", and although I don't know much how it works, I might like to try...
 
You say you like epic games. I suggest trying GMR. You can find info about it at the top in this forum.

There are other ways to play like NQ and league but they usually play fast and in one sitting, meaning you have to spend the better part of your evening playing one game to the end. I am sure people in these 2 groups can give you more information.

Sometimes there is a small group here on the forums setting up a game that plays over multiple days, only spending 2-3 hours on the game before saving. These games are usually led by Onan. You can try contacting him about these games if you like to join. Only problem with that is that his games are set at australian time and for us europeians that means between 9 and 11 in the morning depending on timezone and daylight savings.
 
I tried to read the topics about GMR but I did not really understand what it is... I noticed people are talking about DLCs, but I really have none (just the basic Civ 5), so probably I would not be able to play?

Also I would prefer only 1 or 2 more people to play with me, tops... More than that gets a bit annoying to schedule a good time for everyone to play calmly. Specially because Epic games tend to take a few days...
 
There is no need for DLC's to play. I still see alot of vanilla civ games on GMR and its an easy thing to ask not to play with dlc's, or start your own game with your own rules.

The people I usually play mp with is Onan and his team from around the world, and a group of swedes, but we talk on skype during our games and unless you speak swedish fluent I dont think you'd enjoy joining us.
 
Oh.. wow! I did not know that people actually did this... If through the program is much easier, can you imagine before, by actual emails? A quick game in a tiny map can take months haha

Noo I prefer the traditional way, all players online at the same time... Me and other 1 or 2 human players tops... Will be very glad if anyone will be interested.

I used to think that the play by email format was too slow as well, but it was actually quite a nice relaxing change of pace from having to sit for 6 or 7 hours to finish a game. You might want to try one or two of those games while also still trying to set up normal games as well. To ease into multiplayer I would also suggest just joining a few lobby games. Yes people quit but you can at least get a feel for the turn timer and some of the research paths necessary not to get steam rolled.
 
Thank you guys for the replies and the tips! I played a few games with a friend also around Europe, but he kind of disappeared... So it would be nice if I've met another gaming fellow to Civ with =P

Hi czerwona. I'm surprised you haven't had more luck. Usually just mentioning you're female gets you a lot of attention from gamers! :rolleyes:

I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned a couple of live MP groups: civplayers.com is one, which offers live ranked games, but as they tend to be very war focussed, it may not be your preferred style.

No Quitters or NQ is another steam group, where they tend to play longer free for all (FFA) full diplomacy games, but these mostly are played in one sitting, so are very long.

As Foffaren said, I run games of 4-6 players where we play about once per week, and reload until we're done. And yes, for CET time, I think the start time is 10am at the moment.

It sounds though that you are looking for something different, more relaxed, epic speed and partnering with players vs the AI? All I can suggest for that is you keep bumping this thread, be patient, and/or visit civplayers or NQ chat 'lobbies', to talk to other players about the kind of game you're looking for. Or recruit real friends to the dark side of civ. :)

As for many if not most of us here, we play MP for the thrill and challenge of human competition. You might actually have more luck finding players for the type of game you're looking for in the SP forum? Your game style seems to fit somewhere between SP and MP!

Ps if you like to role play, you'd probably enjoy GMR games, even though they're slow. Check out the 'Speed' game in this forum if you want an example where players often post in character, and engage in diplomacy and propaganda via the forum. :D
 
Hi... Yes, being a female work on RPG games, but maybe not in Civ =P

I will give a try on the games you mentioned and I am open to any kind of game really at least to try it out... 10am is indeed a bit strange time, but since I am not currently working, I think it would not be a problem for me... The only issue is that I am probably not very good in Civ as most guys who multiplay might be =p

Yup steam nick the same. Just add me/msg me when its you want to set up. I'll also be sitting in civ league chat and NQ chat if i don't respond right away you can grab me there.
 
But what is his steam name? He didn't give... If I look for "Onan", a guy from Costa Rica shows up =p
