Mac 1.21f Beta Patch Info

Cool "feature" I guess. I was mostly building coal plants and stuff I thought, but hey, I'll take the money :-).

I know that there were a few bugs that I did point out, like my unique unit not giving me a golden age - even after winning several battles, getting them to elite status and even getting a couple leaders out of them. Frustrating to say the least.

Thanks Brad.

Thanks for the heads-up! Those of us who just bookmark direct to the forums would never have found it otherwise.

Hi,
I will say that the most irritating feature of the patch is that winning battles with my UU does not trigger a Golden Age. I could really use one about now..... :-)

Oops! Just noticed the Open Beta 1.21f patch. I hope that fixes the problems I was having.

Had a very quick 'random' game on a Tiny map and it looks good. I like the changes to the game set-up and the sounds seem smoother.

Thanks for the tip! I'll switch just as soon as my Aztecs finish off the Egyptians... then the French... then... :goodjob:

I've been playing the 'open-beta' 1.21f on a standard map for a couple hours now. I like it very much --- most noticable are the "new" SFX sounds. I turned auto-save off, every time I randomly save a game I hear a 'chirp' sound. This was also present in 1.17g for me. Actually, the 'chirp' can occur at anytime, usually after a sequence (move, build, etc.) has ran.

I started the game on a small continent w/ Japan, Japan no more by the way, so my tech has been slowed due to isolation. Other civs have built some wonders I've yet researched tech for. This has prevented me from getting a good feel for AI to AI tech trading. I understand the costs have been increased slightly from 1.17g. Is this correct? Anyone experience this yet in the 'open-beta' 1.21f?

One more thing, unless I missed it in 1.17g, my gallies move safely over all ocean tiles but deep-water. Has this always the case and I just avoided it? There is nothing I can find in the 1.21f readme about it, but of course its 12:15 am.

I'm running Civ3 under 9.2.2 with 384 MB allocated to the game, and the beta patch works fine so far. I like all the sounds we never used to hear, too.

I am still not getting a Golden Age with my UU - Using the Iriquois. Is anyone else getting them? If so, what Civ are you playing?

If would have to be 'Babble-on' [sic].

I just start using the beta patch and found one "bug". I'm not sure it's a bug but anyway there it is.

When I get a palace improvement, it never pop-ups... I always had to go to palace view myself to use the improvements.

So does anyone had this problem to?

No, I'm not experiencing this under the beta-patch. The palace interface always pops up for me to choose improvements. I'm on OS 8.6 w/ 333 mhz.

Just a thought.... Are you using a mod created under your beta-patch? If so, perhaps something is awry.

Nope. Not at all. I was using the patch with a newly created map - no mods (other than graphic mods - better terrain graphics and stuff like that). I usually play huge continents...not sure what the problem is. I am trying the Germans now. We will see if I get a GA from their Panzers (I am only in 1300AD tho - so it will be later tonight at least).
