Which one is the ultimate computer?

I for one beleive it is the mac... and the only PC who can really compare are those running linux, but I got an open mind so please plead your case!

MAC users will doubtless realixze OS X is a Unix/Linux based system... it uses BSD, which the "full" version of FreeBSD. You can even drop to the Linux command prompt in a MAC session!

As more people go the the free, fast, and much more powerful Linux or Unix based PCs, hopefully MS will go the way of the Edsel.

Long Live Linux!

:)

I meant which one is the best in all those way. Which one has the best overall...

For exemple the mac has the best (this is what I think) interface, but it's damned sh** when it come to compatibility...

So all things considered which one is best?

ps: most certenly I would choose Data's brain but this one is not availlable at the moment...

I voted for "Windows PC" but even that's not right. More specifically, it should be "Windows 2000/XP PC." The other versions of Windows are crap compared to the competition. I don't use macs but I know that PCs are cheaper and you can find a lot more software for them. There really is no "best" computer, it's just whatever works best for each individual and what they're comfortable with using.

I had to vote Windows PC, because even though it has problems (oh yes it sure has its problems) I have found that it is the system I am most comfortable operating in. My systems have never been as unstable as some peoples', requiring relitively light use of the Ctrl-Alt-Del combination, and because I use my computer pretty heavily for gaming purposes, the gaming compatibility factor is a big plus.

Go Windows:goodjob:

I chose windows but more specifically would be win 2000/XP as they are the most stable(or at least I have found them to be). I don't like the lack of compatibility with macs. Also, I don't like how macs lock up. At least you got a message saying you were screwed in win ME, 98, 95, 3.x

I don't have enough experience on a Mac to make a fair judgement here.

Linux is very efficent and much superior to Microsoft. The problem is there is much more software for Windows than Linux.

I also have very good memories of OS/2. I wish IBM would make it open source, then it could compete with Windows I think.

I'm trying to find my consumer feelings about Mac and PC. Strangely, none of the usual distinctions work here. Which one is Quality and which one is Value? Which is Hip and which is Dependable? Male / Female?

Somebody please tell me, is PeeCee a boy or a girl?

My college had masses of macs, really good ones. So there we are, putting CD Rom portfolios of our work together, and it's pointless because all the places I applied to for work mainly used PCs... User support and compatability, real key factors. That and a decent keyboard.
As far as I can tell, the new macs are trendy designer gear as much as anything. For the inflated price compared to an equivalent powered PC, I'll buy a pair of shoes and a new coat to look cool, not a computer that tries to look like a half sucked boiled sweet.

Macintosh. Excellent GUI, UNIX based, increadibly stable etc. etc.

Windows - The majority of the population tends to decide these issues with purchasing decisions.

Betamax or Vhs anyone?
Vhs was poor quality compared to Betamax but who still has any Betamax stuff?
