Mac = Apple = healthy food ; Healthy food = evil -> Mac = evil!

Only thing macs are good for is reminding the PC users with Windows that it could be worse :p

Boy, do I wish that were true. Windows users have more idiots based on sheer numbers alone (it's to be expected), but we do have our share spectacularly stupid people...

ok, here is my question, i have a PC, and have lots of friends who insult the MACs, such as "nuke them" but i have seen comercials on tv about people who switched to mac and it went great.........can anyone tell me the truth?

which one is better mac or pc?
Stalin, asking a question like that in a place like this is like setting a truck full of matches in the middle of a crowd of pyromaniacs. :nuke:
If you seriously want information, go check out folk who know what they're talking about and can back up the "why" in their argument. Here's a fair one:

Even the professional geeks have trouble:

So, if all that doesn't do it for you, go to someone in the middle of it all, CNet:

However, before you buy into Beavis and Butthead chatting up how much one sucks and the other blows (or the "Gates said it, I believe it, that ends it for my purposes" argument), note which orifice this smoke seeps from.
;)
Last rant (aren't you glad?): as of this post, you were "exiled in Texas." I've been through El Paso and had lunch in Amarillo. I might agree with you if you I didn't have good friends that grew up Houston. Now I bristle when I hear a Californian or a New Yorker declare Texas the "s**tbucket of America" (actual recent quote). This kind of blanket statement is pretty damned dumb. Before you accept dogma (one way or the other), go out and make your own decisions. The last thing we need in this world is another Beavis...

Your both wrong - the net is run by CISCO....[sigh]

Anyway whats better MAC or PC ??? who gives a toss.

It ultimately comes down to what YOU want to do with your computer.

Want to do video, graphics etc - then MAC & Firewire - but be prepared to pay for it. But if Mr Bill Gates gets his way he'll flood the market with USB 2.

Want an all round machine and portability - for less bucks - PC.

The PC vs MAC arguments and not so friendly rivalry aren't much different to the PC vs AMIGA of more than a decade ago.

If it's too hard a decision - get a console

Myself I used MAC - I have little love for it, especially when a Torres Strait Islander tells me how great it is for doing his Arts Essay's. ;)

I prefer PC's, thats what I'll stick to - as for MAC's if you like it, use it; I don't care none.

CISCO is not a server but a comm hardware.
If you look at the statistics the most used OS for Internet servers is Win2000, second Linux, and third Unix. Five or six years ago, the far most used was Unix.
And for the Hard, I have lost the numbers, but the most used servers are Silicon, Sun and Hewlett Packard.

I'd rather say the former Amiga vs Atari, which would be fairer for that past and glorious age :)

Aaaaah, THAT was the glorious past :)

And well, it was not the same. People were fighting over "which is the best", but it was much more friendly. Rather a rivality game than the real disgust and scorn we see in the PC vs Mac war.

Tribalism. Man, this is sad on so many levels, yet it's the way the world works. Let me preface this by saying I use both. I've used 95 and 98, and now 2000 and NT at work. This is why I've bothered to invest in a Mac at home...

That attitude from WinTel victims is what actually drove a lot of Mac users into evangelizing the platform. Way, way back in DOS, when C: prompts made every sipdhit think he was a programmer, Mac users were bombarded with "Mac, huh? Well I use a real computer..." Meanwhile, the WinTel victims were wrapping themselves around the machine instead of using an interface that conformed to the personality using it.
Face it, you platform nerds, a computer is a machine -- and a Mac is, in fact, a PC. It just doesn't use the WinTel platform.
If we were all going to base our decisions on what's the most efficient tool for the sake of the task, we'd all be using the exact same thing. Take cars, for instance. We'd all be driving the same model Honda Civic hatchback (in primer gray) because it gets great milage, it can haul groceries, parts are everywhere, and nobody would be bothered by headlights in their rear-view. But lo and behold, one jerk decides to paint his Civic red and put covers over the seats because he spends so much time in his car that he's tired of looking at the same thing every day. Whoa.

Individuality.

That's basically where the Mac started. With an interface that conformed to the user instead of the other way around. Once the Mac had a following, it wasn't going anywhere. Was it a niche? Sure. Will it replace windows? Nope. And thank goodness. Keep the disgruntled virus writers in the WinTel world. Who cares if it has 10,000 games when 9,990 of them suck? I'm willing to shell out the extra $10 for the few that don't to be ported to my quaint, lil' platform.

You work for Microsoft, right? Propaganda? Ethically compromised Monopoly? Fraud? How about:
* Stung by Apple's switch campaign, they hired and faked the other way around.
http://news.com.com/2100-1001-961994.html?tag=fd_top_6
* In 1998, The Los Angeles Times reported that during its antitrust trials, Microsoft hired PR firms to flood newspapers with fake letters of support, bearing ordinary individuals' names but actually written by Microsoft PR staff. Payments were funneled through Microsoft's main PR agency so that the checks couldn't be traced.
* During the antitrust trial, Microsoft attempted to prove the inseparability of Windows and Internet Explorer by showing the judge a video. There was only one problem: The government's lawyer noticed that as the tape rolled on, the number of icons on the desktop kept changing. Microsoft sheepishly admitted to having spliced together footage from different computers to make its point.

Windows. Gosh, the word just makes your skin crawl, doesn't it? Especially the arrogant, conceited, elitist Windows users that support this backward platform.
...Oh well, I guess there are a whole lotta cockroaches per human, aren't there? Guess we should just hand the planet over to the cockroaches.

;) Okay, so maybe that's a little extreme considering we're talking about a freakin' information appliance. For just a moment, step above it, folks. Is it really worth all the ill-will tribalism, or are you one of those inbred imbeciles that has a Calvin sticker on your Chevy, p!ssing on a Ford logo?

Think about it.

Thanks for proving my point.

Point? You had a point in that anti-Mac diatribe? A valid point? A complete quote tagged with this anemic attempt at an ironic defense somehow proves your point? I don't know what you're smoking but it isn't healthy.

This thread has a tendency to attract a disproportionate number Mac-users because Mac tends to be the underdog and Mac-users seem to feel inclined to defend it feverishly.

I like PC.

It didn't have to be this way.One small mistake not copyrighting an OS way back and here we are.

Right, right...

My opinion: although tented to vote for the last one, I vote the obvious: PC rule.
In small markets, like Portuguese, the difference is even BIGGER.

(Mac has no Portuguese version of Mac OS and that helps also...)

Well, my post did not contained ANY anti-Mac diatribe. It contained anti-Mac users diatribe, saying that what make them tiresome is their propension to arrogantly estimate themselve the elite, while the rest of people (read : PC users) are just a poor herd of misinformed sheeps slave to the Wintel cartel.

The fact that you answered with such zeal while completely missing the point, just rushing in the battle to protect the Holy Apple machine, is a good example of this behavior.

Although you have the firewire with the Macs to plug in your digital camera, Windows has an equivelent that works just as well, so Mac doesn't win there.

Like I said before, for some reason Photoshop runs and looks better on the Mac and so do some of the other Adobe programs, but in all other aspects I think that the PC is better. Its efficient, there's tons of software for it, there's tons of things that you can download and most only work with the PC (like downloadable games etc.) and its simple (so is the Mac but this is simple+more software) which justs makes it far better.

Ohhhh! Sorry, sorry, my bad. I get it now: the Mac is okay, but the user sucks. Oh, and the marketing of that "decent" machine sucks, too (it's all lies, as you authoritatively instructed, right?). If only the Mac could exist in vacuum... :undecide:
So, to reiterate your statement: I, as Mac user, suck... :hmm: And when I protest this prejudice, it proves your point...? When you make hearsay references to "our" distortions... but I can point to specific examples of Microsoft misleading people, I'm being unreasonable. Your lack of logic is... bringing a smile to my face.
:D
"rushing in the battle to protect the Holy Apple machine"? Obviously, you didn't read the post all the way through. It was about tribalism, prejudice and perspective. Go back and re-read it, rain man.
It is now apparent that you are a pathological passive-aggressive zealot, fundamentally blinded by your own platform allegiance. It is textbook transference, less ironic than it is sad.
:(
If you were the average WinTel user, I'd say it's no wonder the "switch" campaign seems to be doing so well. Fortunately, I know better. There's plenty of smart, decent PC users that know a computer is a computer, a user is a user. Unfortunately, you're not among them. Next time, bolt your feet to the floor before opening your mouth.

Is it true Macs have a mouse with only 1 Button?

And it is a Media editing machine. Bah, 3 mouse buttons is a must to edit graphics, and Adobe programs runs smoothly on a PC aswell, so does 3D programs. Why should I use a Mac when I want to play games, and create games?

If ALL games came to Mac aswell, I would probably consider one...

It's true, sadly enough, they come with a 1 button mouse, but you can use basicly any usb mouse on the market to replace it and all the buttons will work well. I'm a mac user and I have a four button optical cordless mouse and it works perfectly.

Please don't make us, mac user, look like such a inpolite group of people. We should respect inferior PC users...:love2:

nb: not to take to seriusly...
