[MAC] war declare glitch

sorry if this was mentioned somewhere else, but i could not find it.

every once and a while when a new turn starts there is an update saying that I declared war on some AI nation (this hasn't happened online yet), which in most situations is no big deal as it is as if they declared war on me, but more often than not I am depending on an alliance chain for defence, and that becomes broken once war is declared. I know for sure i am not accidentally pressing a keyboard shortcut.

So is this a glitch for the MAC version or some strange feature of being in a democracy or something i am unaware of? if it is the former, which patch would clean this up?

I don't know of anything specific to the mac, the people in the mac section of this forum may have more idea there.

You say you are relying on an alliance chain for defence, could you have been dragged into the war through that, the AI declares on another Civ in your alliance so you automatically delare on the AI through the alliance?

Are you in a defensive pact with anyone? If you sign a defensive pact with someone and they declare war, then you're forced to declare war too; hence: NEVER sign defense pacts with Shaka, Monty or Ragnar!

this is not true though, or at least this does not make sense, because if i declare war on someone, my defense pact is dropped automatically with my allies.

Someone else has to declare war on a member of your defensive pact for you to be drawn in. If they declare, the defensive pact is broken.

Ok, I understand that, but others who I am aligned with are not drawn in as well if an enemy declares war on one member of my defense pact, which seems to be a glitch if that's what the problem really is.

also, thanks for the welcome Furiey though i've actually been a user of Civfanatics since 2006 i've never used the forum before, only to download mods
