Macedonia - A Naming Issue (split off from Altered Maps XVI)

I note you have failed to supply a source for your list.

Wiki gives a Map showing Serbs and ethnic Macedonians living in what is now Macedonia and parts of northern Greece from a Hungarian encyclopedia published in 1997 (before the Greeks invaded the area)

Well, some notable Magyar nationalist groups have a lot of questionable ideas (and myths) about their own nationality, identity, and origin, too, which range from Scythian to Hunnic to direct and unbroken Sumerian legacy... :P

But all of that aside, I believe the last people who could have given us an answer on this question without having to resort to someone or other's second- or third-hand biased opinion, article, reference, accounting, or screed but would know and remember themselves probably died a couple decades ago of extreme old age...

I present to you the 1908 Ottoman Millet list of ethnicities for the purposes of electing deputies to the 1908 Ottoman Parliament - the last such Parliament elected whilst the Ottomans still controlled land in the Balkans, other than Eastern Thrace (the small corner modern Turkey controls to this day). It is VERY comprehensive and generous, amazingly so, for the day and age, and given these WERE Ottomans. Romani are excluded due to being nomadic and having no fixed residence, and the people we now call Bosniaks were included as Serbians who practiced Islam instead of Christianity. Find me the Macedonians on this list please.

Find me the Lebanese, Palestinians, Circassians, Kurds, Romanians, etc. on this list please.

Your history teachers must have loved reading your "casual streetside everyone perspective essays." :p
back in 1987 or 88 and 3 whales are stuck in ice , the body of water tightens everyday and they will die . Gorby and Bush race to the rescue and ı think a Russian icebreaker was the first to arrive . So , it being so much in the news , the teacher of Literature wants the class to write a composition . r16 was the first to finish , with (honest to God) 3 sentences on the paper ...

edit : Also in the news . You feelthy Macedonians , you have lost a vote in the name of the West and the West throws a fit and catches Russian spies or something , all of them in the GRU , too , proving Russia is not a superpower , but a "Pariah" State ! People still refer to Russia as a power and it makes West lose votes , this must end at once !

I could swear you're a Dubioza Kolektiv fan from some of your posts.

I'm just a diaspora dude who never lived in Yugoslavia and has some unfortunately uncritical Yugonostalgia.
And Dubioza Kolektiv are pretty cool...

That thing seems to have a very bad reputation in the USA, but just the fact that it was good enough to be exported to (and bought by some people in) The West is a point of pride.
And if (well, when, not if) it broke down you could "fix" it with some cardboard, a bit of string and a sock.
It wasn't great, but it was built to last. None of that planned obsolesence BS that dominates the electronics industry these days.
The first Gorenje washing machine that my parents bought in Germany lasted a quarter of a century. The second one -after the company was privatised- was a bit crap and died within five years.

It is good to see reconciliation between Macedonia and the Former Ottoman Republic of Yunanistan.

PGDM and the Hellad, you mean.

Well North Macedonia has been passed by the Macedonian government for the new name.
The Greek government has won a no confidence vote and will now vote to accept the name North Macedonia for Macedonia.
This will pave the way for North Macedonia to join the EU and NATO

From The Guardian

The Greek prime minister, Alexis Tsipras, has won a confidence vote in parliament, clearing a major hurdle for Greece’s approval of an accord to end a dispute over Macedonia’s name and averting the prospect of a snap election.

If the NATO in its current composition will still exist against that time ;)

With Mattis gone, the last bit of sanity within the WH has gone as well to prevent Trump doing Putin's bidding and wet dream to blow up the NATO.

Syriza is to lose the general election this october. They have zero mandate to do anything and are a gov hated by the public. Imo west bulgaria won't be saved by being given a mask; the albanian minority soon will be a majority, at which point fyrom becomes ffyrom.

Furthermore, do note that this was the vote of no confidence, won by just one mp (151-149). It isnt the vote on fyrom's name.

@Phrossack , try looking at how you are, before spewing such garbage against public protesters. Cause you come across as a brat at best.

Re the protest, cnn is funny, cause the crowd was hundreds of thousands. Also funny how there is reaction against a deal not wanted by 90+% of the public. What do plebs know anyway; they should accept the will of a minority and hated gov set to collapse in the coming general election.
