IIRC something like this has been done in the Munit subforum
But, about settler tipes, I remember DyP have a Priest settler. In my mod I use several thing from DyP for now, and I don't liked the Gandhi unit is a priest, so I replaced it with a EoA priest.
But now, I had this idea, combine it with a settler and a worker, like his "followers" because the priest alone have no build anim.
"We're a gathering of regular small families, we build cities, we travel around with our wives and children, we have heavy backpacks and other stuff to carry. That's why we always have donkeys, cows, horses and whatnot around us. But hey, when it comes to fighting, we kick some serious butt."
I agree they should have an attack of 0, but maybe an upgraded settler (pioneer?) should have a defense of 1.
In Optimator I am letting at least some civs upgrade their settlers to pioneers with covered wagons in the late middle ages - basically making them wheeled, 2 movement points, and a defense of 1.
This gives them at least a shot at defeating barbarian attackers. Makes sense if you think about it - US pioneers would circle the wagons to fend off Native American attackers.
I thinking of a crazy mod/scenario, and I want a settler with attack and defense animations because I go to use it as a military unit, not a "build city" unit.Could someone give me a suggestion?
A settler should have a defense of 1 in Medieval-Modern ages.. not in Ancient age because well.. it'd be like a warrior unit with no attack.
In my game I added the Turghaut, a very nice unit by Kinboat, which is a Mongol-specific horse archer which can settle. I usually play as the Mongols because of the units I added: Khorchin, and Ordu which were also made by Kinboat.. the Mongols are unstoppable in the Medieval Ages for me. I never see use of the Turghaut by the AI just because I never even see them until the Industrial Era. I don't know if the AI even settles with them.
I like the idea of defense for a settler and perhaps a small attack in the late Medieval age and on because it was those pesky American settlers who pushed my people back to Oklahoma.. how horrid.
