Hey, i been thinking about this one since civ 3 but i didn't know if anyone had done ot. Now that Civ 4 is out i thought i would make one, but i realized that there is so much that can be done with this, (AND THE FACT THAT I SUCK AT MODDING)(SUCK=ME). I know a ton of people like the game, and i think that it would be an incredible mod. Post any ides you have. Also this isn't my mod, but a mod that anyone can work on. I'm not even the leader(yet muhahahahah). POst idea's for new civics, traits, uu's civs, maps, new tech tree, anything really.

Hmm, I dunno, it depends what timeline you wanna use for MTG...
I could really go for a Dominaria Mod, completely ignoring **everything** after Apocalypse.
I know that the obvious impulse would be to make a Civ for each colour, and maybe an artifact one, but I reckon it'd work much better if we really get into the game world, and make Civs for the bigger nations/factions instead. The 5 colours would fit best as Religions, methinks...

Oa UU: Samite Healer: 0.2, other units on this stack heal 50% faster.

Urborg UU: Sengir Vampire: 10.2, when this unit is damaged, you can disband another unit on it's tile to heal it completely

Yavimaya UU: Maro Spirit: Maro Spirit's attack power is equal to, uh... 10/total number of techs you have

Llanowar UU: Llanowar Elves: Increase production on tiles they are standing

Tolaria UU: Beebles!!!!: Invisible unit, whenever they enter a city, they sabotage production hehehhe :p
even better, Tolaria UU: Temporal Adept: Consume this unit to reset all units on the map to where they were 3 turns ago hehehehehehhe
or, or, Tolaria UU: Morphling: you win. :p

*ehem*

aw, there's waaaay too many UUs to be done, and I'm tired...
While we're on the topic though, I think a mod based on more linear, story driven card games like Legend of the Five Rings, or even 7th Sea would be awesome... actually, 7th Sea would make an excellent Archipelago scenario/mod... hmmmm, one ponders...

Well, there would be five empires:

1) White - plains/light
2) Red - mountains/fire
3) Green - forests/nature
4) Black - swamps/dark
5) Blue - water/sorcery

I would suspect most would agree to the above.

For leaders, I have a suggestion that might not fly but I think would be cool - use the Elder Dragon Legends from the Legends series.

UUs would be largely irrelevant because all the unit trees should differ. For instance, Green would have Llanowar Elves, Pixies, Force of Nature, etc.

Mind you, I stopped playing Magic after...Homelands??...so I'm completely out of the loop on new spells, creatures and abilities.

See, thats exactly what I'd want to avoid, if this were my mod (but it isn't, so I should just shut up now... eh, Ill say my piece, it wont take long).
Magic has a world to go with it, and although the Colours play a big part in it, it isn't one of political or cultural allegiance. You'd never hear an Elf tell a Tolarian mage "I dont like you because you're blue." rather, he'd have a natural aversion to associating with him because generally, mages like to mess around with the fabric of reality, and this is seen as an insult to nature's grand design. Likewise, Vampires dont eternally struggle (hehe, couldnt resist) against Angels "because they're white." they do so because they believe in different ideals. This is especially true for the average citizens of Dominaria; In the majority of cases, they only have a very hazy understanding of the Colours, and speak of them only as a powerful superstition.
This is why I said in my previous post that the Colours really shouldnt be the Civs, but the Religions (or one of the Civics, if you want to go for a real challenge).
The Elder Dragon Legends wouldn't make good leaders coz a)they're all tri-coloured, and b)they'd rather eat you than lead you.
The nations of Dominaria all have noteworthy individuals who'd make fine leaders; Serra Planeswalker, Baron Sengir, Multani, Rofellos, Eladamri, Liin Sivvi, Cho-Manno, the Magistrate, Chancellor Rayne, Volrath, Sidar Jabari, Sidar Kondo, Jolrael, Gix, Yawgmoth, Urza, etc etc etc...

I think Ravnica is perfect since there are already 10 guilds, which means there are already 10 sides / nations. Besides the fact that there are 6 guilds still unrepresented by cards. But once Dissention comes out, everything will be cool.
