I've been trying to play Civ5 lately but I have come across this bug that "does not" seem to have any solution to and I think it is something that only the developers of the game can figure out =S.

The bug happens when I launch the game, but the bug causes no error messages giving no code on what my problem is. It then crashes my entire computer, if Windows doesn't pick up there is a problem with Civ5, and even when it says it will notify if it finds a solution, it still doesn't find a solution

At first I thought my computer didn't have the requirements to run Sid Meier's Civilization but that is not the case. I have most of the recommended requirements except the "1.8 GHz Quad Core CPU". Instead I have the "Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2430M CPU @ 2.40GHz". And I doubt that my core could cause this problem =S.

The only other thing I can think that could have caused it is me changing my computer from my original one that I used to play Civ5 on. That computer got destroyed because of overuse .

I'm am very confused and I'm not sure what is happening . I could use some assistance .

Hi Corruption,

Sorry to hear that you're having problems playing the game. First thing to try is to verify your cache:

Steam --> Library --> Right-click Sid Meier's Civilization 5 --> Properties --> Local Files --> Verify Integrity of Game Cache

If that doesn't help, please post your DxDiag file.

Did you install Steam & Civ on the new computer, or just copy it over?

New computer? Different, but not new, computer? Is everything up to date on it?

I'm usually up to date with my Civ5, and I re-installed it 2 times before I put in this bug report , My DxDiag file has been put as an attachment. :

I did what you said and it fixed 2 files. But the problem still stands =S. I guess it might be my DX setup parameters lol.

Merry Christmas by the way.

Thanks for posting your DxDiag file. Your video driver is dated 4/11/2011 and needs to be updated. To do so, first go to Dell support and see if they have a more recent version. If not, then try to find a compatible driver from Intel. Good luck and Merry Christmas to you too!

Hmm I tried searching for updates on the Dell support website, as well as the Intel website, They had no versions of software for this computer. (DISGRACEFUL COMPANIES AND DEVELOPERS)

I then tried doing a windows update to check for updates, it also cannot find any compatible graphics cards updates, and instead I need to buy a damn new graphics card from JB-Hi-Fi.

I'm just gonna buy parts to make my own computer from scratch. I've had enough of these useless companies who purposely place the engine of the computer next to the hard drive storage space so the data gets corrupted purposely anyways.

Anyways thanks for the help Petek. :crazyeye:
It helped me out alot. :goodjob:

Intel has drivers:

Edit:
Intel doesn't always make stuff easy to find. And it looks like their site has undergone a recent overhaul. That took me way more time to find than it would have a little while ago.
