Making civs playable

I'm currently trying to make the Svartalfar playable, and I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. I opened the FfH Editor.xls file in the mod directory and set "bPlayable" for the Svartalfar to 1 under the Civilizations tab, but when I start a new game I can't find the Svartalfar leader to choose her. Is there another step I'm missing?
 
I think I had that problem a while ago. You can selected formerly unplayable leaders easily in a custom game.
 
Also, there was/is a Svartalfar mod by Sureshot, which not only makes them playable, it also adds lots of new units (with new art) to them and makes them an imbaabuseomg race (the last point being subjective ;p)

Remember that races are unplayable for a reason, and that reason is normally not "We hate our players" but "the race doesn't have anything interesting to it yet". This is a random guess I'm pulling out of my ass, but I think that the DARK elves might receive some attention during the SHADOW face.

Btw, I'm curious where exactly Kael took the name from. Being German I have no problem understanding "svart alfar" (black elves, literally), but I'm pretty sure Kael didn't just make that up with a vague knowledge of Germanic languages. Also, the Ljos Alfar must be forest elves with a slightly different etymology. I'm suspecting something Slavic, since the Polish word for forest is "las".
 
ljos (ljós) means light in old norse.
 
Oh cool! So the similarity to Polish las is a nice coincidence. I can see the Ljos thing too, yeah. Both are close enough to their German variants, though svart (schwarz) is a lot closer to the german version than to the English. Thanks for the info :)
 
It's internet lingo, and me being German I composited some abbreviations. These are pretty much from any kind of online game. Imba means imbalanced, as in one choice that is too strong, abuse is pretty much the same (only that it's closer to xploit, meaning exploit, meaning to use a feature of a game in a way that's radically different from what the game designer intended), and omg is plain old oh my god.

It was very late at night and I felt silly. But I *was* wearing my pants so I hope I can be forgiven.

Yep, I know; I just wanted to see what they're like.

I did see Sureshot's mod, but I thought it was only for an older version of FFH. Is there an updated version that works for 2020 or 2021?
 
I made a mod with Sureshot's svartalfar units, Maniac's Hidden trait and a UU (High Priestess) if you're interested.
