Map Finder JPEG help (BTS & Vista)

It might be the Great Plains duel size map. Are you using a world wrap? The edge of the map may be showing up more often than not. Things get complicated at the edge of those flat maps. I would suggest trying it on a different/bigger map.

The only other thing I can think of to try is to make sure that the data files in the Civ4_Map_Finder path haven't been corrupted. Maybe reinstall the utility to make sure.

When I asked for JUST gold, it saved gold AND gems, but not silver. When I asked for ANY commerce tile, it passed on everything unless it had a Fur tile and a commerce tile. I watched 100 regens and I'm pretty sure of this behavior. It sounds crazy, but I just can't get it to do anything I specificly want.

I just ran a few more maps using a setting of only gold and MF worked okay. It saved 2 maps which each had only 1 location of gold, 1 map gold was 4 tiles from settler other map it was 2 tiles from settler. It passed by gems as it should have.

I'd follow Denniz advice to reinstall MF.

It works fine now. I uninstalled and reinstalled.

Other than a possible corrupted file (seems doubtful), the other thing I did strangely was I previously installed 1.7 in Program Files, this time I installed in the default My Documents area. There was an old version in there which I also uninstalled.

Thx for the help.

While I have your attention, is there a flag or .ini option I can set to have it start in the BTS version instead of vanilla?

Mine is loaded in the Program Files area, so the older version (dual location) might have been the problem.

Denniz will have to answer the other question.

I guess it depends on which one you have the HOF Ini file pointing to. There were some changes to the data files at some point. That could do it.

No, but it is not a bad idea. :goodjob: I will put it on my list.

I've got mapfinder working with BTS/Vista in Full Screen mode now too.

I changed my Power Options to not turn off the display. That seems to fix the problem.

Thanks :goodjob:

I was wondering if that would do anything. I figured it would atleast stop the repeated photo of the last map before the monitor entered sleep mode, even though MF was actually generating new maps.

I've set the Monitor sleep mode time to 1 hour now, instead of the 15 minutes. I usually don't run MF for too long anyway.

I tried the power options and the screen saver options and my Map Finder saves still come up with no screen shots. I just load them up based on the statistics data and play them if they are as good as advertised.
