I got a chance to tinker with that nugget Robi dropped in a chat with Fe: He mentioned that there are 18 tiles between DNUTs and TNT at the closest point:

I'm having trouble locating the Saltpeter in the screenshots that have been posted in the State of the Empire. I'm hoping that someone can post a couple screenies that are at a higher zoom-level, or with Units turned off... Not a really pressing request, but I hope someone can help out in the next few days

... the top left corner of the big map, you will notice a mountain ... KISS have built a Saltpeter colony on it ... It is 2 tiles up from the coastal city (with fish) that marks the end city of the western border.
Likewise one of the Battle Island supplies is on a mountain NW from Mezza Keep near the coast.

Noticing how 2/4 Jungle mountain has a Saltpeter, im assuming the other mountains will have key resources in the future. Possibly Uranium?
