Now for the other major question I need from each team: what kind of map do you want? I'm going to provide some general maps scripts, which will serve as a basis for the customized map that will follow. What I want your team to do is let me know what kind of map you'd like to see for this game. Here are five general options to think about:

Wheel: One of the better Multiplayer maps for this sort of game, and a very "fair" map, with equal territory for all civs and access to each team. May be too unnatural for some teams' tastes. Also on the small side.

Donut: A fun script added in the expansion. All the teams start on the outside edge of the donut, with a large region of peaks in the middle. The peaks can also be replaced by water, or standard terrain, if desired. Lots of early contact on this map.

Islands: A map that features lots of water and naval combat. Each team has their own starting island to themselves, which may or may not be what you want. The islands by default are separated by ocean, but they can be bridged by turning on the "tiny islands" setting.

Archipelago/Snaky Continents: One of my personal favorites, due to the crazy and unpredictable land forms it spits out. Navies will still be emphasized heavily on this script. Here are three different looks, with different settings:

Global Highlands: A more interesting take on Pangaea, IMO. The peaks make for all sorts of wacky geographical formations, and interesting decisions on where to settle. Lots of customization options in the settings too. The latter two pictures explore some of the peak options.

Now what I would like from each team is to discuss and agree on a ranking of your three top preferences. This doesn't mean that you'll necessarily get the script that you picked first, but I will take into account what kind of map each team wanted. For example, if your team was dead-set on an Islands map, I'll lean more towards the naval ones in the overall decision. You can also simply say, "we trust the map maker, come up with a mystery game that looks awesome" as I know a couple of teams have suggested. If that's the general team feeling, you can skip this discussion entirely. ;)

Once again, I'm asking each team to come to a decision on their top three map preferences by Wednesday, November 19th of next week. At that point, I'll see what each team decided and do my best to come up with something agreeable to everyone (although that may be impossible...) Thanks for your input, and I'm looking forward to hearing from you!

I am thinking snaky continent with added massive continents(how does that work? Basically add or enhance landmasses so it isn't all coastal, having some variety with mountain ranges, huge inland areas etc. Otherwise i belive great ligthouse get too powerful). Seriously though, i think it would be better if you modded the map yourself and left us a bit in the dark about what would happen(other than pre-opics contact and not very possible with early rush).

I also trust you to come up with a great map whatever it is. Personally, I don't favor the unnatural maps (wheel, donut) so much, and islands isolates everybody for a long time. Snaky continents is my first preference. Also, I'm not worried about the great lighthouse-I don't see why that's a problem since domestic trade routes don't give very much, and the other teams don't have to open borders and give you tons of cash.

If those five are the options, I agree with Oyzar. Snaky continents, preferably much less coastal than the pics you posted. No early rushes, pre-optics contact for everyone.

"we trust the map maker, come up with a mystery game that looks awesome"
We trust the map maker, come up with a mystery game that looks awesome.

That's all I will say in this discussion.

I agree that we trust the map maker in doing a good job.

I think a natural shape is not priority, as it is a rather difficult compromise: fair & natural. Have a look at our globe :) Does it look fair to you?

I believe I agree with Oyzar. It is always nice to be surprised by a map for one, and some of these map types favor certain wonder and certain strategies, it would be nice to mitigate that.

I'll go with "trust Sullla".

Whatever map style Sullla goes for I hope there is plenty of land so that each team can expand without fighting too early. Although I think fighting should be an option (so not everyone on their own isolated island). Just make sure everyone has plenty of potential city sites otherwise the game is likley to be decided early by rushes.

My own preference would be for it to include some aspects of a terra map. i.e. where ever all the nations are (and I think they should all be able to meet pre Caravals) I think having some isolated (until caravals) islands from them which can have viable cities would be good. A terra map itself is not that great as it means everyone is on a Panagea island with another one with no one elsewhere. But you could have a continents/snakey connected continents with a couple (say) isolated islands with enough room for 2-3 cities on each for later exploration.

You could even give the 'new world' near monopolies of some none essential resouces. Crabs, Spices, Silk etc. could be very rare except on those islands making them a valuable trading resource to encourage their settlement and conflict over them.

Placing aliminium and/or uranium and/or oil on the non-starting islands might be an idea...

I'm getting a general preference here for the "customized mystery map" option, with support for it looking something along the lines of a Snaky Continents shape. Is Team 4 OK with me putting that down as their decision for the map vote?

Yes, that seems to be our consensus.

The only one I really care for is the "Archipelago/Snaky Continents" option. Sorry, I figured I would say even if I'm late
