I realize this is probably in the wrong place, but there were a couple of threads about the Civ4 mapfinder and I wasn't sure where to post this. So my apologies if this is incorrectly posted.

I can't get the mapfinder feature to work. I downloaded it, changed the directories in game to match up with where I installed Mapfinder to, and when I hit alt+M the program starts, my game pauses for a bit, then a new map is regenerated, and then nothing happens. If I hit alt+X, mapfinder stops and it says: count=1 saved=0. There are no saved maps in my saves folder. I haven't touched any settings, everything is default. I've got the newest HOF mod and the MapFinder 1.7.1 installed. I'm running Vanilla Civ4, on Vista Ultimate. HOF mod hasn't been an issue, I just sucessfully submitted a game for the current G Minor gauntlet. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

You can change some CivilizationIV.ini settings to see what errors might be happening. (One in each expansion's folder under "My Games".)

Turn on Python Error popups:
Code:
; Set to 1 for no python exception popups
HidePythonExceptions = 0

or

Turn on logging - log files go to log folder under "My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4":
Code:
; Enable message logging
MessageLog = 1

; Overwrite old network and message logs
OverwriteLogs = 1

You are probably just having access issues. If you have Vista, look at the Vista Fixes. If you have XP, make sure you are using an account with admin access.

I think you may be looking for the files the wrong way. They will not show up as saves in your Civ IV directory. The maps will be saved in a directory that can be viewed when running the map finder utility after exiting the game. If you are running Map Finder in BTS, you will have to specify this version in the pull down menues of the Map Finder utility before the map files are viewable.

You need te let it run, it will regenerate then save the map if it complies with the rules. Leave it run for 1/2 hour, it should save 10 or more maps. maps are stored in a folder within My Documents. to view start mapfinder from desktop.
