~~ Masquerade Mafia ~~

Apologies for my recent inactivity (in this and other threads, actually) - I've been swamped with revision for a particularly tricky examination.

Sprig: there seems to have been some confusion regarding my role. I'm a protector, not a roleblocker, and due to the aforementioned busy schedule I forgot to send in a protection order during the last phase, so the lack of kills is not my handiwork.

I vote for Nictel... ordinarily I'd at least try to check the veracity of choxorn's theory regarding his play in the last two NotWs, but it's late and I'm tired and I'll do it in the morning, stop bugging me. :p

WAIT A MINUTE.

I can't vote for choxorn because "he would never be a baddie three times in a row"
But you can all vote for me because I am "behaving like a baddie" and as such am in fact a baddie three times in a row?!

The Round is Over, Nictel has been lynched.
Nictel- Choxorn, TLO, Love, Sprig, Catharsis,
Catharsis- Snerk, Nictel
KillFire- Omega124, Electric
Standby for Write-Up

Status: Still working on it. Don't worry, I haven't abandoned you.

Ba-Dum. Ba-Dum. The heart beat continued unabated. Marie Chile whirled around the dance floor. Ba-Dum. Ba-Dum. Nothing she did could distract the sound from tormenting her. She tried to focus on the other dancers, to see Kendric Johnson alone with the man in the Santa Hat. He tried to dance with the woman in the blue dress but nothing mattered but the beating of the heart. Ba-Dum. Ba-Dum.

Wilmer Dee had other problems. His mind was racing, trying to find a way to excuse himself politely. After dancing with several people, notable among them the person in the Raven Mask, and Keir Satchel, he had been bitten by a rather peculiar bug, one that appeared to be made of solid gold. No, bitten was not the right word. Infected. Tainted. Even now, he saw the swarms of bugs crawling over his skin. He scratched and scratched, but none released their deadly grip. In fact, the only thing that seemed to be coming off was his skin. Desperate now, he scratched harder but still the inexorable hive remained. Defiling. Corrupting. Suddenly the itching stopped and a wave of intense euphoria swept over him. And then there was nothing. Nictel collapsed to the ground, dead.

Spoiler :
Nictel was Innocent!

Marie Chile breathed a sigh of relief. The heart had stopped, for the moment.

Before the other dancers even noticed the loss of their compatriot, Tilda Jancis hunched over. She let out a small cough—the observant among the party goers noticed a small speck of blood on her otherwise impeccable hankerchief. Before she could even stand, a second, larger cough came bringing with it an even larger speck of blood. She stood then, her glistening sweat visible on her brow. Red sweat. Blood red. With a final convulsive spasm, Sprig fell.

Spoiler :
Sprig was Innocent!

All of a sudden, KillFire stood up. She put on her her Blue Dress, walked down to the docks, turned around and said 'Good day' to the nearby fisherman, then jumped into the water and drowned. The nobles were in shock at such a well, suicidal move. Then came a shout from above--

“Well we can’t bloody well let her go off alone now can we?” Calmly putting on his black coat, Aspie too, walked off the bridge.

Spoiler :
KillFire and Aspie were both Innocent!

Lynched: Nictel
Killed by Red Death: Sprig
WoG: KillFire, Aspie

It is now Day 4
Day 5 in 72 hours

*rage*

I have a theory about who here is guilty, but I'm not going to reveal it because it will ruin the game. :D

As of now, I can't make a logical assumption of who is guilty, so I'll see the evidence given by other players first.

Having actually taken some time to read over the last few days' posts, some comments:

nictel I guess since catharsis is clean, so is rhawn for that matter.

From the look of things, sprig was this game's prophet, and he scanned both me and rhawn innocent (although the second one's not much good given that rhawn has been voluntarily perm-banned, which is a real shame by the way). So you can all feel free to stop voting for me now. It's okay, I accept your apologies. ;)

I feel suspicious of those among you that are claiming that you are less likely to be mafia, having been mafia in previous recent games. That's electric and also choxorn - I didn't realise that choxorn had done it until Nictel pointed it out. In comparison to how you both played in the last game when you were mafia, choxorn has been a bit more vocal, although to be honest in the last game he just didn't defend himself at all when he was accused, so that doesn't really prove anything about his innocence. Electric has acted quite similarly to how he did in Diamondeye's game.

Also, I'd quite like to ask TLO36 what he meant by this:

Good question Catharsis, and the answer is that every game the players lynch me in the first round, so any vote for me in the first round isn't really random anymore.
Following that logic,

Unvote, Vote: Seon

I don't see any reason to vote for Seon based on what kill fire said there. If kf did not consider my vote to be random then the third voter was actually TLO himself. So why the vote for Seon, bearing in mind that Seon had already voted for you?

For now, my vote is on TheLastOne36.

It was early game, everyone was throwing votes everywhere, it meant nothing at all.

And i'm actually surprised people have been ignoring me so far in this game. But you guys have my word that I am not mafia. I am Steve Fontaine and I wear a Green Coat btw, if that will help you peace togather everything.

I have yet to appear in any updates.

If BL isn't interested in taking over rhawn's part in this one, I'll take it. I don't think I really did or heard anything of note before random.org killed me.

Catharsis, TLO has a point. No one really had an idea who the mafia was, and I don't see how you can judge him on that. And just because I don't broadcast my thoughts for every vote doesn't make me any more guilty than anyone else1.

I vote for Catharsis.

I'm not convinced that Sprig was a prophet just because he claimed that Cath and Rhawn was innocent.

I also find it odd that Cath is still alive after outing himself as protector. That should make him a prime mafia target.

Not sure whom to vote for just now.

Nictel was innocent? Damn. Although now, I have a new lead. Love, you have a point, Omega did not give any reason for this vote. In fact, he hasn't given much of a reason this entire game:

I vote Seon, he'll make a conspiracy to kill innocents sooner or later.

I still vote Seon, for he just barely survied.

I vote kill fire. He's trying to get Catharsis knocked out, for what? I think there's more than one side to this story, one which Kill Fire is hiding...

His first vote is forgivable for everyone else being random, and the third time he at least gave some explanation, but his votes still seem random. He's made zero posts in this thread except to make one of these votes or sign up, and he's keeping really quiet, just posting as little as possible to avoid WOG, and voting a little randomly each time, and never bothering to do anything else. He's basically just trying to deflect attention from himself.

So, Omega124, are you going to bother explaining anything you've done so far? Because if not, then I can only conclude you are the mafia.

TLO36

I'm not convinced that Sprig was a prophet just because he claimed that Cath and Rhawn was innocent.

I also find it odd that Cath is still alive after outing himself as protector. That should make him a prime mafia target.

Understandable concerns. Of course, I don't know for sure that this is what sprig meant, but can you think of another reason for him to suggest my innocence unequivocally at the time when I looked most guilty to so many of you? The only reasons I can think of are (a) he's been prophetin' or (b) he's my mafia buddy, and suggestion (b) was sorta torpedoed when he died and turned up innocent.

As for the second point, well, I suppose I serve as a pretty good distraction, given that I end up having to dig myself out of a hole every time I open my mouth. I'm only claiming to be innocent, not that I've been in any way helpful to the innocent cause. ;) Perhaps electric is right, and it's better to not vomit your opinions all over the thread at every opportunity, but God help me, I just can't play that way, no matter how many times it almost gets me killed. (see: Snowblind)

Choxorn raises a decent concern about Omega124. Better than any of the stuff I suggested, anyway.
