Massive PTW Preview Update @ GameSpot

And an hour is totally doable. Lunch may never be the same!

Consider these settings:
- Regicide
- Tiny map, panagea, 60% water
- 3-4 players
- "Fast" turnless mode
- Accelerated production

Trust me -- this game can easily end in 10 minutes, especially if one guy rushes while another guy is using his king unit to scout.

I play huge maps without accel. prod. I'll be more interested in longer, 'strategy' games. If I wanted a 10 minute game, I'd play Nintendo. Civ3 is so appealing because of the chess like strategy. The attacking is fun, but only after I've worked so hard to build and position my forces.

Kinda like how fewer accidents happen when driving in the rain, since people are more careful.

 Are you serious? I spent most of my life in Atlanta, Georgia and there are a lot more accidents in the rain. People seem to speed up and get even more stupid then! But that's just my 3 cents worth {w/ inflation}. ;)

Sure, the fast-paced multiplayer stuff may not be a big win for those of us who prefer marathon Civ games. But I'm happy at least to have the option now! Besides, with the editor, I expect to see multiplayer scenarios out there you could start off in a later age, or with a certain number of cities each, to basically jump to the middle of the game without worrying about bad luck on the build up.

Except for PBEM, I can't imagine playing real-time with anyone and enjoying it without those simultaneous and turnless modes. I plan to get a buddy or two and team up against five or six computer players on Deity.

P.S. Okay, I kinda goofed on the good weather/bad weather statement... made my point but it was a bad metaphor to use. "Statistics show" that there are more accidents in good weather than in bad weather, and the oft-stated assumption is that it's because people take more risks in good weather and fewer people go out in bad weather. But those "statistics" are misleading, because there's good weather more often than bad weather, so of course there'd be more accidents!

Hey, that sounds like a good idea.
p.s.: it's cool.
